3 out of 5 stars Same as all the rest   October 8, 2006

I purchased this controller for my son thinking that it was going to work well for his small hands. I was disapointed to find that it is essentially the same size as the small microsoft controller so in that regard it has no value.

4 out of 5 stars great price, comfy grip, D-Pad not very accurate/precise   June 14, 2004

Too bad there isn't a picture of this item (as I write this review). I think this controller is the same as the one here:
http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005QEZ6/ (...)

At least, that's what mine looks like.

I really like the grip shape and rubber surface (altho I have small hands, my hands cramp up more easily on the Microsoft S controller). The macro function is nice, altho I'm still trying to program combos into it. I can't notice a difference with the joysticks on this controller or the Microsoft S controller (but I've only been using the MS controller for 2 months and this MadCatz controller for about a month). No problems with the joysticks so far. Great price - cheaper than the Microsoft S controller. I got a translucent orange one (too bad we can't pick the color). I've only used this MadCatz controller for about a month, so I can't say if the rubber grips are durable or not. The only complaint I have is that I find the D-Pad control is less precise than the D-Pad controller on the Microsoft S controller. I find it harder to do combos (DOA 3, Soul Caliber 2) than with the Microsoft S controller. The button layouts are also a little different. I prefer the Microsoft button layout, but find both are alright.

3 out of 5 stars Good size, bad durability   December 23, 2003

This controller is a good size for my smaller-than-average hands.
The only small problem comes in durability. For the first 6 months or so, it worked okay. Shortly thereafter, i noticed the joysticks (which are rubberized for some reason) and the rubber grips on the sides began chipping away and disintegrating in my hands. This makes for some messy gaming and dirty palms. Also, the right joystick tends to drift which is bad if you are playing shooters or games with a camera mapped to the right stick. Also, the combo feature wasn't much use to me, maybe because it's too quick when executing combos, or maybe cuz i don't play a lot of fighting games.
Either way, it's not a bad controller, but it's not the answer to all your control problems. Go controller S if you don't mind the extra 10 bucks.
