5 out of 5 stars Cute, Funny and Violent!   June 12, 2008
This game is very challenging, but somehow very fun. A violent kiddie game. It's pretty funny, too

4 out of 5 stars Loads of fun   November 3, 2007
I think this game is a hoot and a half! Who cares about graphics? I mean when it comes down to it all you need in that department is to know where your character is and where the enemy is and maybe some cover during a battle. When I rented this I thought I was going to be the little fluffy guys but well it turns out you play as the mean guy. Some of the things that the little fluffy dudes say are just out right funny. One of them said, "My Horoscope said I wasnt going to die today" I found it very clever. This is a game that I think Most everyone should own because it is fun and challenging.

4 out of 5 stars "I like this one. It's bloody."   June 5, 2006

Seems nobody bought it & I checked out the website for it before I invested a reasonable $20 when it came out. The only thing I feel is really missing is jumping. There's no "jump" button for your dude. But it's never an issue. You have many fun ways to kill mean spirited, evil little cute little punk a** enemies. That's the game's real appeal; Killin' those who need killin'. And it's good killin' seen through sniper scopes so you can see them die little by little or mid-range with machinegun or shotgun-type weapons or through remote controlled explosive roving means or up-close melee-style so you see the red chunks of wet flesh splatter & their body fly against your tv screen. Your character, Raze, inhales this bloody carnage. It serves as health-restoring sustenance. The enemies are pretty tough & come in a good variety & they say the darnedest things. I am always hearing some hilarius comment from the AI's that I never heard before, right up there with that excellent "Halo" AI banter, almost... Too bad it's almost impossible to get a game going on Xbox Live because this is a very fun multiplayer game online. "Raze's Hell" would be worth $20 or less for the online play alone, but there is nobody to play against most of the time. I like the one-player story mode well enough. You definitely get what you pay for with this title, in my opinion.

3 out of 5 stars Brilliant Concept - Brilliant Dialogue - Sub Par Graphics   April 24, 2006

If you are a fan of the darker side of life, and enjoy slaying cute little toons, this might be a game for you. You have to appreciate sub-par graphics, though.

The game loves to poke fun at traditional story toons. "Kewletts were a happy bunch - all bright and shiny." They are all of course pastel colored and have high, happy voices. Unfortunately, the Kewletts go on a power-hungry rampage to take over the world. You are of course one of the "dark ignorant villagers" who resists.

I have to say first that I really appreciate the humor here. Some of the things the Kewletts call out at you are hilarious. The subtle jabs found in every corner - the ticker-tape of news reports, the sly double-meaning commentary, are great.

That being said, video games are a graphically geared exercise. Everything you do is driven by the graphics you see. The graphics were are simply bad. The character's movements are incredibly jerky and robotic. Response to commands is awful. The camera is incredibly annoying. The landscape around you looks like it was created back in the days of the N64. Even the subtitle commentary is done in a poor font. It really amazes me that a modern game would look like this.

I don't mean to sound like a graphics snob. I own a N64 and other older game systems. I still love playing games on those systems. However, if I buy an XBox game, I expect at least a certain base level of graphics to be set. I don't expect this kind of stuttering movement and low-key response.

The dialogue is, as mentioned, fun - other than that there isn't much other "sound". There's a bit of soundtrack which is usually in the background.

I found in general that the game COULD have been amazingly fun, if more work had been put into it. I would be quite willing to buy a sequel if they came out for the XBox 360 and really did a complete overhaul on the graphic and controller responsiveness. It's one of those situations where the game creators had a brilliant idea, and brilliant dialogue ... but whoever was in charge of graphics and controllers just didn't step up to the plate.

I can't believe this game got slept on. It's great! I also can't understand the two bad reviews. It's a very fun and funny game too. It's little bit like Conker but without all the toilet humor.
