Highly-portable, cheap, and easy-to-use December 30, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First impressions of this Power Pak: the fact that the charger cable is retractable, really helps a lot for mobile gaming. I have always hated having to pull apart tangled power cords or had to roll cables for storage, so this retractable design is a big improvement on cable management.
The length of the cable is impressive: I estimate it at about 3.5 feet, give or take a few inches. You probably will find this to more than suffice for many situations.
The operation of this product is very simple: pull the cord out to the length you need, and plug one end into the GBA SP and the other into either the DC car adapter or into your notebook/laptop, and the GBA SP will light up to indicate charging status.
Given that there's only 2 pieces to this Power Pak, you can easily retract the USB cable and drop it (and the DC car adapter) into your bag for quick packing. Gives a whole new perspective into traveling light.
The only caveat I found with this USB cable is that Pelican chose to use a thin gauge of wire. I think they could have chosen a thicker, sturdier thickness of wire but I guess they needed to preserve their margin somehow.
Overall I'm very pleased with the Pelican Power Pak, and plan on keeping this handy while I'm jetting around airports next year.
