4 out of 5 stars works as advertised   August 16, 2008
I purchased this to work with my Macbook Pro, which dual boots to Vista. I used it for time machine backup, sharing files between OSX and Vista, and sharing a printer over the network. Everything works just fine once I installed Airport on Vista.

I messed up my OSX account recently, so I booted from a Leopard CD and was able to restore the computer to a previous working state after connecting it to the Time Capsule via a Ethernet cable.

The only downside so far for me as a windows user is it does not support NTFS formated external USB harddrives, which I have many.

4 out of 5 stars Great product   August 14, 2008
Worked out of the box. Easy to install. I'm using it as an external hard drive since I'm still running on Tiger, but copies work well.

The fact that it's a wireless router as well, which can wireless-enable your printer is just icing on the cake.

4 out of 5 stars Easy Installation, Fast and Reliable   August 13, 2008
The Installation of the time capsule was just very easy steps without any trouble, and once it was up and running the network is Very fast and realiable and the time machine backup runs flawlessly.

1 out of 5 stars Not Ready for Prime Time   August 8, 2008

The concept is great and, given Apple's history, I'm sure that eventually this product will perform as promised but right now it does not live up to expectations. The wireless network works great. The printer server works well, but not perfectly. The real problem is the backup hard drive combined with Time Machine which is a disaster. If you buy this product you should expect to have your computer taken over frequently by buggy software (it will freeze). You should expect to have to use the hard shut-down to reclaim your computer on a regular basis. It does work sometimes. You can get backups made if you are persistent. You can retrieve files that were erased by mistake. But, the hassle factor is very very high. Buying an external hard drive and using some third-party software like Super Duper is really a better option for backup. I have two friends who also purchased a Time Capsule and both have given up on using the built-in hard drive.

4 out of 5 stars Overall great router/NAS, needs more ports   August 6, 2008
After hours of debate between the 500gb and the 1tb I decided on the 500 because of the server-grade Seagate Barricuda drive installed. Both offer additional storage options via the USB 2.0 port on the back, hooked up my 250gb portable and it worked like a charm.

I would have gone with the standard four external ports on the back instead of three, I like to go wired when possible and this causes me to use an external switch but a small price to pay for a great product.
