An accessory handset for Uniden's TRU9 series, TRU8 series, CLX series, Elite series, and the UIP18 series phone systems, the TCX905 offers the same excellent range of functions you appreciate in the base. Once the handset is recognized by the system, you can review features like Call Waiting Caller ID, which includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 10-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. You can transfer incoming calls between each handset and speakerphone on the base, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate the handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions.  Uniden TCX905 Accessory Handset and Charger with Call Waiting and Caller ID August 26, 2008
This handset is an improvement to the old one it replaces. It interfaces well with my old base unit although it does not physically fit the base or my old chargers. I smiply use it with the charger that it came with.

I have an older Uniden cordless with accessory handsets which, in the same location, gave perfectly clear reception. This one has trouble around walls!
 Not intuitively easy to use August 19, 2008
This phone works fine but it is not intuitive to add or change area codes when you try to retrieve the number from callerid and call the number. The numbers come in without the area code. I know what the area code is but when I want to call the number and edit the number, it is very frustrating. The arrows on the phone which should allow you to space forward enter characters instead. This phone is frustrating to use.

Because of the shape of this phone it will not charge in my 8885 answering machine unit. You can get it to "talk" to the other units by taking off the battery cover and putting it in the base. But you need to charge it in its own cradle. That can be a pain sometimes. I do like the navigation system on it better than my original handset from the 8885.
Great phone August 9, 2008
I first bought the Uniden TRU9465-2 phone because of a review in Consumer Reports. The TRU9465-2 allows you to add a total of 10 TCX905 phones to it. It's the best phone I've ever owned. If you own a multi-story home, this is the phone to have. The intercom feature allows you to page other handsets use within the house.
