Addicting August 5, 2008 Started playing passively at a friend's house. Wanted to play at home. Bought it (Battlechest is a smart buy), set up an account, and haven't looked back.
Friends don't let friends play World of Warcraft July 24, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is really, really addictive. The sad thing is it's only moderatly fun because it get's very repetitive. You will find yourself wasting tons of time on this game, and when you're not playing and you're at school or work, you will be thinking about playing it as soon as you get home. Buyer beware this game is worse than nicotine and crack combined. . . friends don't let friends play WoW . . .
Stay away from wowcrack!! July 23, 2008 This game is very addictive and you will invest a lot of time in this game. I've played for over 3 years and have always been at the top of my game. My husband and son are much more casual players, but it can be difficult at times even then to pull them away from the computer for dinner, etc. When you are playing.. and going into an "instance" you are in there with 4-24 other human players and you all must work as a team to defeat the monsters. Some of these can take longer than 8 hours to accomplish. (And Yes, there are LOTS of people on this game from the time they wake up until they fall asleep at their keyboard.) If you have LOTS of time to waste away, buy this game. It will keep you entertained. The addictiveness is VERY HIGH. See www.wowdetox.com
Also, there is a monthly subscription charge of $14.99 after you purchase this set.
Cookie cutter MMO. Stale & Boring July 23, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you're looking for a good single player game, or enjoy sitting aorund for hours talking to people you don't know on the internet, WoW might be right for you. Otherwise steer clear and save yourself a boatload of cash.
Leveling up to 70 can be fun, there is enough to do to avoid grinding at least with your first character. Once you're there though, the game screeches to a bloody halt.
PvP is lackluster, pointless, and wholly unenjoyable. Raids are enjoyable if you like sitting around for hours. Every character in late game is identical both in equipment and abilities for a given class. Blizzard also decided to completely ruin Warcraft's back story too.
Play something else.
Ok deal, good game July 22, 2008 The Deal: The price is a deal, because you are getting both wow and the expansion right + 2 guides. Well to tell you the truth the guides arent worth much. They tell you some WOW edicate, and some general information. All of this information is available on the internet and probably in the manual. If this battlechest wasnt cheaper than the WOW and the expansion alone, then I wouldnt recommend it. The Game: No matter what anyone says this game is still a grind. Grind to get your levels. Eventually you are going to be required to group with others, so be prepared to. These seem to be the really only bad qualities. The good side is that it has more features than most mmos. There are battlegrounds to fight other players, tons of variety in monsters, very pretty scenery, tons of variety in every way. Besides these factors, the world is huge, and once you travel to a place you can fly a griffin back (really cheap), which save huge amounts of time.
