Product Description Why just watch NFL football on TV when you can take an active role in the game with Madden NFL 08 by Electronic Arts? Madden NFL 08 lets you control the running game like never before. Step up as the lead blocker to create a hole, then take control of the tailback and smash through, overpower, or slash away from would-be tacklers as you fight for every yard. Innovative rushing controls give you a game-breaking ground attack featuring all-new jukes, cutbacks, and the distinct running styles of your favorite backs. Between the tackles or in the open field, run to daylight with Madden NFL 08. Bust out player-specific running styles matching those of real NFL players (e.g., smaller backs slash to break tackles, while bigger runners bowl over defenders in the open field). All-new jukes, cutbacks, and power moves Scout collegiate prospects with the all-new NFL Draft Scouting System Watch players impact their teams with the new Franchise Player Roles feature Use actual plays from your favorite team's defensive playbook to shut down the running game, pressure the quarterback, or force key turnovers

Controls need some work August 10, 2008 I want to start by saying that the game itself is pretty good, and the Wii-exclusive features (2v2, telestrator, etc) are a definite bonus.
That said, the controls for the Wii are a let down. I have been an avid Madden fan since 1999, and every year, the controls get slightly more complex, but they build upon the previous year's controls. While Madden 08 for Wii has all the new control features, the controls themselves are complex and difficult to learn , and I feel they really take away from the game.
All in all, Madden 08 is a great game , but get it for 360, not Wii. In the future I am hoping to see support for different types of controllers, perhaps GameCube. If we're really lucky, maybe Wii will introduce a modern controller to compliment the classic controller.
Madden 08 for Wii April 18, 2008 Bought it as a gift for my son's birthday. He just started showing interest in football. He loves the game and plays it for a little while almost every day. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves to watch football.
It's Got Potential, But Needs Improvement February 12, 2008 I didn't buy it, rather I rented the game first to try. I had heard 07 had some issues that needed to be worked out and was expecting 08 to have them ironed out...so 08 was the first Wii version I've played. I also have 05 and 06 for my Xbox. Madden on the Xbox is probably a little more accurate, but not a whole lot more once you figure out the motions with the Wii remote. However, once you figure out the motions..and it really doesn't take that long, this game on the Wii is so much more fun.
I've read from other reviews regarding the sensitivity of the controls e.g. snap to quick incomplete pass. I also experienced that a few times and yes it was quite annoying...especially on 3rd down conversions. I didn't have a problem pressing the (1) button on defense to strip the ball, but the (2) button was impossible to reach during gameplay...I don't even remember what that was for, since I couldn't reach it during gameplay, I didn't use it.
Graphics are as expected, I really wasn't expecting 760p like the 360/PS3. And since this was a rental, I never really tried out the "Franchise" mode. I played mostly single games including a game as the Colts against the Patriots...that was pretty fun.
Anyways, IMHO, try before you buy. I'm very close to buying this, but I think I'll wait for 09 now.
love it! January 10, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
We got to see the Seahawks play the Redskins before the big game! Seriously, though, game was shipped quickly and we enjoy it a lot. Football on the Wii takes practice but it is much better than on the psx.
