When we think batman lots of images come to us,maybe it is robin, cat woman, and the joker.Well in this movie you will always think the true joker has died.To heath ledgers memory will last forever for taking a role that so many have played, and making them say so that is how you do it.

Best of 2008. I've seen this in the theatre 4 times. So if I've seen it 4 times, it's gotta 4 ****. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger are a stunning extravaganza!!!!

The Dark Knight blu-ray is what your 1080p HD TV was made for! November 16, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Dark Knight was the biggest movie in 2008, and it is no surprise that the blu-ray is packed with some great stuff. Christian Bale reprises the role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in this dark take on Batman. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent Batman hopes to bring down the new villain in town, the psychotic Joker. When the Joker takes Bruce's love interest (Rachel Dawes) hostage Batman takes a darker turn and all hell breaks loose. This is one of the best Batman films to ever come out. The disturbingly yet amazing dark performance from Heath Ledger makes The Dark Knight a must own blu-ray. The 2-disc Special Edition blu-ray has BD-Live which allows users with web-enabled Blu-ray players to access exciting additional content and connect and share with other BD-Live users. You also get a digital copy which lets you put the movie to your Ipod, Iphone or other compatible portable device. One final note is that The Dark Knight marks the first time that a major feature film has been shot in part using IMAX cameras, marking a revolutionary integration of film formats. The Dark Knight Blu-ray disc takes advantage of the marriage of IMAX and 35mm formats by using the hybrid master to replicate the unique theatrical experience. The IMAX scenes are also included on the 2-disc Special Edition as bonus materials. Get The Dark Knight blu-ray and see how this movie will do for blu-ray what The Matrix did for DVD over 9 years ago.

Holy KR@P batman! November 15, 2008 3 out of 20 found this review helpful
The Dark Knight was such a letdown. Yes the Joker was amazing & disturbing but the movie as a whole was just less than I had hoped. Here's why: Why did batman take the blame at the end when they could have just as easily blamed the joker or any one of his men? Even if there were witnesses that saw Harvey do it, if they were willing to lie to protect Harvey's convictions then they could have lied about who did it? None of Harvey's convictions would have been over turned even if they said it was Harvey since he was under traumatic distress when he committed them. Would ANY court throw them out after what Harvey went through? How is it that batman can take on 4,5,6 armed people at once (& in the last film 4 trained assassins at once) but can't seem to dispatch a couple of dogs or seem to get his hands on the joker at the end of the film? A rookie right out of the police academy knows that, at some point, you have to kill. In batman's game of `bat cycle' chicken when the joker is killing more and more as he approaches, instead of killing the Joker he goes down on the bike leaving himself vulnerable? I get that batman does not want to kill but even rookie cops know that they will have to. How is it that Harvey doesn't feel any pain what-so-ever so soon after his accident? With such gaping holes in his face he'd be open to all types of infection, his left eye would dry up, not to mention, uh, the PAIN! Muscle and bone were exposed! It would take months at best for the pain to stop let alone be able to leave the hospital and go on a killing spree. Why is it in the first film Bruce Wayne was so driven by the death of his parents to understand the criminal mind that he travels the world being one & then studies for 7 years to fight crime, then spends all that time & money on the bat cave, gadgets and suit only to, ONE YEAR LATER, be so willing to give it all up the minute the joker says, `give out your identity or I'll kill more? Sorry, I know movies are a suspension of reality but with continuity & plot flaws THIS BIG I just can't suspend them. How/why this movie was so popular is beyond me. This movie was a tremendous insult and let down. Oh and Gyllenhal as Rachel was a terrible choice. Why? two words...mutt rag! I cheered when she blew up 1. Because she IS hideously ugly and cannot act and 2. I am sick of love interests in batman films. They are worthless story lines and take away from the overall purpose of the movie.
Finally, a movie about the Joker, costaring Batman. November 15, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Heath Ledger may have made a fantastic Joker, but the movie Joker's personality & background have no foundation in the comic's history, even though the Joker has no solid background. I would say that the Ledger Joker got the personality right & made up it's own history, while the Nicholson Joker went of one of the accepted stories of the Joker's creation. Reguardless of my cons outweighing my pros, it's the best Batman movie I've seen & I do recommend it.
PROS: Unlike the Nicholson Joker, Ledger's Joker personality is more canon; the devotion to messing with Batman, the lust for elaborately planned carnage, the amboguous sexuality, the lack of fear in dying, the suggestiveness that he knows but doesn't care that Bruce Wane is Batman & the way he sees Wayn as Batman's mask & the Bat as the real thing, the way he enjoys twisting people's minds into insanity, his expencive taste in clothing, his nonchalantness in offing his own henchmen, the way he conciders killing hostages a game. The Joker of today is said to be supersane, pretending to be a nutcase to avoid the death penalty, & Ledger seemed to be going with that.
CONS: This Joker has a slit-mouthed smile. Where did that come from? He also wears make-up instead of his face being chemically transformed. That probably came from The Dark Knight Returns book. The Joker's fashion sence is characteristicly expencive, but the Joker's fashion sence is supposed to be stuck in the past. The suit he wears in today's comics is a Ringmaster inspired Zoot Suit. Also, the Joker is not supposed to be responsible for Harvey becoming Two Face. Ledger's Joker barely fakes being nutty by talking to himself, cracking lame jokes, or rambling on about nothing to hostages. Commissioner Gordon DID have a wife named Barbara, but the wife that gets shot was Sarah. The Barbara the Joker nearly killed was Gordon's daughter.
