Not to nitpick... August 15, 2008 The product description credits the Black Crowes as the original performers of "Hard to Handle". Ack! That honor belongs to the late, great Otis Redding!!! Nothing against the Crowes, you understand.
As for the game, I agree that's it's a pretty good expansion pack, exorbitantly overpriced.
Aerosmith flavored Guitar Hero that doesn't offer too much August 8, 2008 Since Activision and Neversoft took control of the Guitar Hero franchise, we've been getting a steady stream of sequels and spin-off's, with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith being the latest game in the series. Featuring a pretty good collection of songs spanning Aerosmith's long career, you'll find that besides adding the Aerosmith-themed presentation, the game itself is basically identical to Guitar Hero III. This isn't really a bad thing, but considering this is a full-priced game, it would have been nice if there would have been a little more overall variations. The track list here is quite good though, with even some bonus tracks from Joe Perry's Joe Perry Project to find and play too, along with some bonus interviews with the band. Where the game falters however is that there isn't going to be any downloadable content, meaning that once you get through the game, there isn't much reason to go back to it. Getting through the game isn't that much of a challenge either if you're a Guitar Hero veteran, as the game proves to be not all that difficult compared to previous Guitar Hero games. It should also go without saying that if you aren't a fan of Aerosmith, this probably isn't for you. All in all, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an enjoyable diversion that fans of the band will get a lot of enjoyment out of for a while, but in the end, the game doesn't offer enough bang for your buck.
Guitar Hero 3 Expansion Pack July 21, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Guitar Hero expansion pack is what this game should of been called. (Not GHA) The song lists are not as good as they could of been. GH should of just sold all the songs on the downloads section of gh3. Another problem with the game is that the hammer on and pull offs are different than gh3. The only reason this game still got 3 stars is because its just an expansion pack to GH3.
Don't even rent it. It's not worth it. July 20, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I rented Guitar Hero Aerosmith yesterday and beat it. It was rediculously boring because it was so easy. The songs are not very good at all and I'm not an Aerosmith hater or anything. I have this game for 5 days and after the first day I already had put the game I own, "Guitar Hero III" back in my system because it's replay value is amazing. I love guitar hero but this game is just plain terrible. The gameplay is the same of course but songs are just not challenging and I think you get my point. I am not even that good at Guitar Hero.
An average expansion pack for the price of a whole new game July 7, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I sadly agree with most people in that this game is just Guitar Hero 3 with aerosmith songs. There are no new characters or any decent songs besides aerosmith, except a couple like stone temple pilots. While the gameplay remains fun and challenging, it is not worth 60 dollars for 30 aerosmith songs and 10 others. Unlike Guitar Hero 3, this game only caters to people that like softer classic rock or Joe Perry's solo redneck rock. While the greatness of the franchise remains in tact, this disguised expansion pack by Activision shows that they like fooling consumers too.
