An absolute classic June 22, 2007 Easily the best RPG I have ever played. Graphics are not the best, but the battle system, immersive storyline, great music, detailed cities, and unique characterizations are phenomenal. Unlike many future RPG's, the load times for Suikoden 2 are very short, most likely due to the substandard graphics. If you can get over the graphics, the rest of the gameplay is incredible. The plot is unforgettable, and collecting the 108 stars of destiny is challenging and fun. Many side-quests, secrets, and player choices make this RPG one of my favorites to this day. Suikoden 2 is a classic.
Annoying game June 16, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I think the story is redicolous and predictable. I HATED Nanami, as a matter of fact, I hated A LOT of the characters that are supposed to be my friends in the game. The battle system was good though, fast and easy to use.
I hate the questions with two answers, and you are FORCED to answer one question to continue the game. Example, hero and friends captures two enemies. You can choose between "Cut off their heads" and "Let them join us." Of course "Cut off their heads!" is the top answer, and when you accidently hit it, your "friends" throw a fit about the fact that you shouldn't do that! Another example is that Nanami wants to join you, telling her no makes her throw a fit until you say yes. This destroyed the flow of the game.
The cast seemed a bit redicolous, most of the characters are kids/teens fighting a big army.
If the game was less annoying, I might have liked it.
Buy it NOW! $125 is a STEAL for this amazing game. March 14, 2007 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
If you don't buy this game now, you are a crackhead. This is easily the best RPG ever to grace any videogame system. This game FAR surpasses anything even today. The only complaints I would have with this game are the result of future suikodens giving fans what they asked for. Namely jeane as a playable character, more of her boobs and less clothing. Mcdhol makes an appearance in this as you can load the save game from the first suikoden- a very original idea. Much of what needs to be said has been said by others. If you don't add this game to your collection you belong in a psyciantric hospital.
the best RPG ive ever played December 19, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
i remember getting this game as a christmas present when i was 12? 13 maybe i dont really remember which, but anyway, my parents got it for me since i loved the first suikoden so much. well, this one's like that, except only about a million times better! the combat was very similar, and you saw the return of some of the characters in the first one. this game focuses a LOT on character development, and it feel like they're not there just for their strengh, but the characters in this game actually have a unpredictable personality to them. knowing what ive learned in history class, this game sound like its loosely based on the wars of ancient greece and such. this game really sucks you in, most likely because of the characters. sure, the graphics may mildly suck, but the storyline is incredible (game creators these days could learn from this). people are trying to sell this game for any price up to 300 dollars. well, i wouldnt sell my copy for all the money in the world. am i crazy? maybe. but about the game, is it good? its more than that. this is one of the best games i have ever played, and if you are thinking about buying it, dont think anymore and buy it. you will not regret it.
Well... August 25, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Not much to say here that hasn't been said...there is definitely a reason why you can't find this game for under 100 bucks these days. I'm so glad I picked it up when I did. I had already owned and loved the first game (which was an impulse buy for 20 bucks at wal-mart) and saw this one was out in Babbage's but kept putting off buying it. Thankfully by the time I did they had some left! I didn't know it was so rare back then. The intros to this game (meaning the start up cinematic and the credit scene when you actually start playing) are two of the best scenes and musical compositions I've seen/heard in my gaming history. I just love the music in the Suikoden series, but parts 1 and 2 definitely blow out all the later games. Anyway Suikoden 2 is definitely the high point in the series. If you decide to pay the big bucks for it you'll be justified.
