To Many Time Wasting Update Downloads March 25, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased a Sony PS3 to play video games. Now, every time I turn the PS3 on Sony is fixing their mistakes and wasting GAME PLAYERS time with constant updates. I do not want to spend my time downloading updates just because Sony did not properly setup their machines when they first shipped them. I have now had to spend 4 hours updating items that should never have been a problem in the first place. There have been 3 time wasting updates within 4 weeks.
Software and hardware manufactures have become so lazy that they are willing to jeopardize their good name by WASTING OUR TIME constantly updating their "broken" software. This is a mental illness now shared by a large percentage of the electronics industry. In Windows Vista, updates are constantly being forced on the consumer due to LAZY PROGRAMMERS in the corporate rush to sell more goods. I did not purchase a game machine to update the hardware every time I turn on the machine. A notice to all lazy companies, WE ARE NOT YOUR BETA TESTING GROUNDS!!! If you can not properly setup your hardware and software then do not sell your products. Customers have purchased these game machines to enjoy them, to play games, to have a fun with a group of friends. How can I have friends over to enjoy an evening of games when as soon as I turn on the machine the first thiNg it does is WHINE AT ME TO DOWNLOAD A POINTLESS UPDATE. Now a group of us can all sit around for 2 hours waiting for your company to update my machine. This is a GAME MACHINE!!!!!! It is for playing games. To all electronics manufacturers: It is no fun updating your screw ups with your constant updates. Do not waste out time anymore. Get your products right or do not sell them. Period.
I will simply sell the PS3 on ebay, and tell anyone I can that it simply wastes your time constantly updating the software. I will recommend to all people I know that you should buy a Wii so you do not have to waste your entire evening updating the PS3 every other time you switch it on. NO MORE FORCED UPDATES SONY!!!
I want to play games, not download pointless updates!!!!!
Transcending Other Consoles November 26, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Before I go into anything at all I want to state I love all three consoles. The Wii factors in fun, and great multiplayer action. The Xbox has many exclusive game titles that fuels it such as Halo. The PS3? Isnt that the console media is degrading? Why? Because both Ninetindo and Microsoft realize that Sony has made a gaming console far beyond their own. Most consumers look at the slander remarks of the PS3 and ignore its greatness. Ignorance is common my fellow gamers. The truth is PS3 is a God among its counterpart consoles. Let me start by making a compare and contrast list.
First off PS3 has a Blu-ray player, that alone is reason enough to buy this system even if you arent a gamer. Have you watched Blu-ray on a HD-TV? Its unreal.
Secondly Sony has went through alot to provide a great online community that is (Survey Says! "FREE!") Not only that Sony has better online servers than Microsoft that allows almost no lag at all. (You've been in those Halo matches where you suddenly die because the Game lagged and a missle from a rocket launcher mutilates your body sending you 100 feet away from where you were? Thats lag!) You wont expirence it on the PS3 unless you have a faulty connection.
Third the PS3 isnt as loud as the Xbox 360 which makes a god awful noise especially at night when your playing and its all you can do to hear the characters dialouge. The serenity and peaceful PS3 dissolves that problem.
The PS3 also does not tend to overheat as much as a 360. This also depends on where it is at but the PS3 has fewer flaws. You've heard of the Red Ring Death? lol. That makes me laugh everytime. Poor Microsoft they should stick to making computer software and leaving the Gaming up to Sony. Of course I love competition but the slandering of Sony has got to end. Its letting alot of gamers miss out on the PS3.
As for titles PS3 has had a slow launch (Mostly due to the media slandering the PS3 making game producers back out on exclusive titles) However since the release of Warhawk, Assassins Creed, Lair, and Drake. Sony has noticed a great increase in PS3 sells. Also Sony has re-inserted the Rumble that fans have asked for and also switch to the 40G and 80G instead of the 20GB and 60GB. You may have noticed the $100 price drop.
Basically this is by far better than the other two consoles (Both of which are great aswell) Do yourself a favor and buy a PS3, trust me you wont be disappointed.
PS3 vs. XBOX 360 November 15, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
First off, i have both systems now. We all know that the 360 came out in 2005. The launch lineup was not the best but it still was way better than the PS3's. The funny thing at one point i hated Microsoft and the XBOX 1, until i played Halo. That game showed what Microsoft was capable of. I have been a loyal fan since. The 2 biggest issues with the PS3 is the price and the titles that are out. There really isnt that much to choose from. I love Metal Gear Solid but there are so many exclusive titles on the 360 that you cant go wrong. The PS3 will never and i mean never have a game as big as Halo 3 or Ninja Gaiden 2 which comes out sometime next year. If Sony was smart they would have made the system at a base price of $400. Then they should have waited to release a blu-ray player add-on just like the 360 and their HD DVD player. That would have made more people eager to buy the system. Honestly, the HD DVD and Blu-Ray are identical if you ask me. The only big difference would be your TV. A lot of people say the graphics are so much better on the PS3 than the 360. Unfortunately, they are sadly mistaken. The 360 has found a way to utilize the core processors within the system. That means they can isolate things so the graphics run smoothly. The PS3 is said to be a little bit more complex. If you compare the same games on both systems, the 360 has the edge and its the truth. Like i said i have both so i can argue for both. Its a shame that the once exclusive titles like GTA 4, Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4 are going to be on the 360. I am sure Sony isnt too happy about that. Sony could find that Metal Gear Solid 4 is heading towards the 360. Hey, it did happen with MGS 3 and XBOX had a better polished version of the game. I truly believe it comes down to preference and which system you can stay with. I personally would recommend the 360. But if you have been a Sony fan since Metal Gear 1, go with the PS3.

I own the Wii and love it. I picked up an XBOX360 Elite and it's great. I own an HD-DVD player but I wanted to complete my collection by adding in the PS3 to not only get the gaming system but the Blu-Ray while they battle it out. My hold out was the price. Once the price dropped I paid a visit to my local Gamestop and low and behold they had a 20 gig unit in stock refurbished and they sold it to me for $349.00. How could I say no? It's a total steal at that price. Now I got me a Blu-Ray and a great gaming system to boot. I am not concerned about the loss of the memory ports vs the 60 gig becasue I won't be uploading pictures or music to it. I don't need the WiFi because I have no interest in buying a PSP and I can direct connect this to my cable modem because of the location of where my systems are. So I am VERY happy with my PS3. Matter of fact I picked up Resistance of Man and Ninja Gaiden and I must say they are both mind blowing awesome! The format wars have ended for me and I look forward to the exclusive games coming our way for the PS3 in the future. Soooo glad I waited for the price to drop. *******
Just an quick update. I bought an internal 120 gig 2.5 HD and installed it within 2 mins on my 20 gig PS3. The 20 gig is the way to go because the upgrade is painless and cheap. You can pick one of these drives up for $66.00 online at various vendors. Save your duckets and get the 20 gig and do the upgrade as soon as it arrives. Gamestop has these machines for $349.00 used/refurbished.
