In Burnout 2: Point of Impact takes you into the world of fast racing, where tenths of a second can be the differences between life & death! All this plus the realistic crashes that made the first Burnout such a hit!

Amazon.co.uk Review
A sequel which, like its acclaimed predecessor, puts fun right at the top of the agenda, Burnout 2 dispenses with niggling irritants like realism and instead delivers top-class gaming entertainment. So what's new? Added locations for starters, and the highlights are a twisty road round the Rocky Mountains and an inspired airport-based level. A greater variety of vehicles are available too, and naturally enough you have to balance your need for speed with a vehicle capable of good handling, taking into account the weather and the kind of level you're racing across.

Yet ultimately, the core of Burnout 2 is still arcade-style racing, and frankly there's little else that does it better. Burnout 2 is incredibly accessible and an absolute blast to play, whether you're competing through the suitably enhanced single-player options or hooking up with friends--it's completely irresistible. Visually, the game looks great and moves very, very quickly. The action too is interspersed with elaborate crashes, and when you do hit something you shouldn't, at least you're rewarded with an action replay for your trouble.

Negatives? Genuinely very few. Those who prefer their driving games flavored with a bit more realism are going to be happier with a Gran Turismo game than this, and in spite of some good improvements and additions, there aren't enormous differences between this and the original, despite the fact that a lot more has been added to it.

These are nothing more than very minor niggles though. Easily one of the most downright enjoyable games of recent times, Burnout 2 is an exemplary piece of gaming entertainment, and a welcome antidote to the growing band of games that just take themselves far too seriously. Treat yourself. You'll be glad you did. --Simon Brew

Amazon.com Product Description
Burnout 2: Point of Impact is an arcade-style racing game set in six all-new United States-inspired locations, including Los Angeles, the Rocky Mountains, New Mexico, and a busy international airport. There are 32 new stages to drive and 14 all-new vehicles, as well as seven secret vehicles to unlock, including police cars, 1950s hot rods, and stock cars. Realistic weather effects include snow, rain, and fog. You can also take Offensive Driving 101, where you can "learn to burn" from the Burnout Driving School. All-new pursuit races allow players to race a police car and ram opponents off the road, and vehicles can get air and earn boosts by jumping.

5 out of 5 stars A great game.   August 22, 2007

This is a really good racing game. Its you against your rivals. Doing risks will get you BOOST and with the boost you can leave your rivals in the dust. The cars tracks and crashes are great. And if you crash it will cause maximum destruction to your car But then after its all over it'll be fine but your boost will be all gone. So watch it.

3 out of 5 stars Ho Hum.   April 25, 2007
The only games I play are driving games and martial arts. This is not the best driving game. It has it's good points, like cool crashes and lots of places to drive, but the graphics are mediocre and it does get boring fast. Honestly, I would rather play the first Need for Speed, because it never seems to get boring. My advice is look elseware.

5 out of 5 stars Wait for the NEXT BURNOUT   August 15, 2004

This is for people that like driving really fast. This game is quite tense because you don't know if your going to crash into a car when you turn that corner. Sometimes you get frustrated by it. People are saying it gets boring but that happens with every great game. When I get a new game I play it(for first 10 days) nearly all day like for 12 hours and thats why I get bored of games like over people. People say it makes you sweat and grin and that's true.

3 out of 5 stars It Gets Boring after a while   August 13, 2004

Burnout 2 is ok. It gets really boring after you played it 20 times. All you do is crash cars and race. Its grafics are ok. There not the best. You should rent it or borrow it from somebody its not worth 20 dollars.

I never play such an exciting & realistic driving game before. This totally beats out the GT series! It keeps you busy on non-stoping driving excitment.
