Product Description Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant is a deep, engaging strategy role-player that continues the story of the original Shadow hearts. In this sequel, World War I has started, and a cult has used the chaos to further their own ambitions. Yuri, the hero of the first game, will explore his new powers as he fights this new evil. An engaging strategy epic where you try to survive battles against secret cults and powerful, mysterious wizards.

This is a game which survives on its predecessor. The combat system is revamped, and I give credit where it's due - they had a lot of good ideas. It needs a bit of fine-tuning, but if it gets the tuning and appears in another game I think it has a good deal of potential.
The problem comes in the story. It isn't really engaging, and plot points are few and far between. It is difficult to keep working through the combat to get to the story, as turn-based games are pretty much designed around, when you know you are like an hour away from the next cut-scene.
Overall, it isn't a bad game, it just fails to shine. It lacks polish, and it has major pacing issues. If you can make it past those two issues, you will probably enjoy this game.
awesome rpg game February 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
just finished this game for the 2nd time, and this time i finished all the sidequests and got to say probably one of the best rpgs out there...ff x is still my favorite but this comes a really close 2nd... the story is amazing(including all the sidequest) which makes this a very enjoyable and addictive game which makes you want to play again and again...definitely a keeper and a classic ps2 game...
One Of The Best January 24, 2008 This was the first JRPG I played that wasn't two dimensional, a fantastic way to enter the genre. World War One, fanservice, Gay (literally) minigames; what more can you as for? One of the funniest and funnest ps2 rpgs out there, a definite 'yes'.

This is possibly the best PS2 game i've ever played in my life. The whole shadow hearts series is the best title ive ever played in my lifetime of living. Great game, Great storyline, Great everything. I would definately recommend this to anyone thats intrested in turn based attack games.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant August 1, 2007 A wonderful journey and once again a unique fighting system just goes along so well with a continuance in the Shadow Heart saga a series that is truly underrated by far in tern makes this a must have RPG.
