5 out of 5 stars Balanced Gaming   September 15, 2008
As a child, the TV and the Joystick were my babysitters. There was nothing more gratifying than mashing buttons for hours on end. However, I was never introduced to sophisticated gaming titles. Final Fantasy is not your average video game. It requires you to immerse your personality into the gameplay, and as a result the game begins to grow on you in a very positive way.

This game engages your intellect and instincts as you begin manipulating the environment of the game. You will experience the repetition of military training, gaining strength as you progress through your journey, explore and discover areas of the earth, sail with pirate ships, row with a canoe, and even fly through the air with an airship as you cross time to defeat the main enemy.

Underneath the physical emulation lies a bedrock of Japanese philosophy which can be visualized with an image of a circle. You will find the characters and events sticking to your memory with the delight of a harmony as you criss cross the earth over and over again, finding yourself remembering the idiosyncracies of each character again and again. And, like a well written song which begins and ends on the same note, you will find final fantasy beginning and ending at the same point, completing the circle, and bringing final fantasy to life in your mind.

Experience the Zen of Final Fantasy today. Challenge yourself to enrich your bestiary and find every treasure to unlock the wonderful treasures at the end of the rainbow. But remember, this game requires virtuous characteristics for completion. Be prepared to invest your time and patience for this most rewarding franchise.

5 out of 5 stars The Orginal Great   April 12, 2008

This is the first time i've reviewed something on here, and its because i feel the need to clarify where so many have complicated.
Basically, if you like final fantasy, aren't sure, can't find a good game for the psp, or wan't to try an rpg out that's guranteed to please, just buy it.
i can't stress enough how wonderful this game is and how much it has influenced gamers and developers alike. the story is solid, the action is classic, control is excellent. and the music will rock your face off.
if you have a psp just don't think about it and buy it. everyone with the system should get this. save anytime is great for on the go gaming. the graphics have been re-done as is the sound.
i'm telling you, this is some serious awesomeness. just get it. for real.
you'll thank me.
peace.

2 out of 5 stars Short and sweet:   March 13, 2008

This is old school technology, turn based role playing. If you like that kind of thing, you will most likely love the game. I thought I would but was left pounding my legs on the bed at the constant interuptions of the turn based fights that pop up every time you move(slight exaggeration). Because I am a gaming geek, I did finish this and played it for 30 hours. Ten or fifteen years ago -- would have loved it. Now? With new tech and games like WoW and such...forget it!

4 out of 5 stars A Game Remastered   March 11, 2008

Since 1987, Final Fantasy was one of the games that got Square out on top and is one of my favorite franchises to date. Twenty years later, Final Fantasy is back and redone for the PSP. The game is much better with a 16x9 Widescreen which is perfect for a larger horizontal perspective. The sprites look way much better than ever and all the extras from Dawn of Souls are there along with an additional dungeon that can put your skills to the ultimate test. Sure the game is a bit easy but the fun is to relive a game that has went through the test of time. Nonetheless, if you are a Final Fantasy fan and own a PSP, this is for you.
