Good game if you like easy games with no challenges March 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
this game does have good graphic the gameplay is smooth, but it is way too easy, to easy to the point that I, the first time playing the game, did not lose a point, then I continued to move up in skill level, nothing changed. I beat everyone, at every skill level without losing a single point. I like realistic game, this is not one, so that is why I would not recommend it if you like challenges, you just won't get one here....
i like tennis....so what!?! December 21, 2007 fun way to kill some time...plus you can customize ur own character and rackets and sneakers...etc. Either way theres this one guy I can't beat! WHY?! Just glad I got my money's worth in this game rather than wasting more at the arcade.
A letdown August 21, 2007 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this game thinking it would be good but I was thinking wrong. Let me just say that this game stinks real bad. I played Virtua Tennis on the XBOX and PS2 and they were good games. However on this PSP the game is a complete letdown. I don't know if it's just me but during points this game will flicker a bit. Also the players look completly fake. The players play styles doesn't match. I wish this scale had 0 stars because this game is a complete waste of resources. I watch tennis and know the players styles so I know what I'm talking about. If your going to buy this game please don't. If you really want a good tennis game for the PSP get "Smash Court Tennis 3" as it puts this Virtua Tennis to shame. I also should mention that the game is a dark.. I just don't like this game at all.
Virtua Tennis 3 July 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a pretty fun game. I beat it in about 3 days after playing the first day and then getting instantly hooked. There is one gripe about the game though, you constantly play the same opponents. Ranked 300 in the world you play Andy Roddick and you play him again ranked 15 or so. Of course he is much harder when you're ranked 15 or so but that aspect makes it unreal. Other then that its a very good buy.
Good pick up and play game May 25, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is the first game of the Virtua Tennis series that I have played, but I had heard some good reviews of the game, so I decided to pick it up. It is definitely more of an arcade game that you can pick up and play fairly easily than a more complicated similuation game, which makes it a great game for a portable system like the PSP. You can play it easily enough without much practice and yet there is enough depth to the controls to make it more fun as you continue playing.
The career mode is pretty decent. There are lots of mini-games and training games as well as tournaments to enter. My main gripe about the tournaments is the jump in your opponents' skill level from one level to the next. In the first level, your opponents play so badly that you can easily win an entire tournament (3 matches) without losing a single point. Yet when I jumped up to the next level, I was lucky if I could win a game in the first match.
One thing I've noticed while playing the game that can get really annoying is the slow down that can occur occasionally. Usually this happens during the mini-games if there are too many things moving around on the screen all at once. It might also occur during doubles matches when there are four players running around instead of just two. But I have had the frame rate drop drastically while simply playing a singles match. I basically lost an entire match because of this once because the game would slow down so much that I would hit the shot button too early and my player would just stand there instead of running to the ball, causing me to lose several points.
This negative aside, the game is overall a very satisfying experience. It's a great game for the casual gamer who needs the occasional fix of gaming on the go.
