Big Fat Fun July 12, 2008
This game is big fat summer fun. I'm looking forward to the patch that lets you play your own music, because their selection is less than stellar. There are hardly any load times, so you're alway playing too.

overall gameplay is fun and addictive, but what sets this game apart from others are the graphics. best of any ps3 game I have played. it shows what the system can do, driving around at 200 miles per hour in HD,awsome

A lot of people let this game pass them by. It's a great game that has a great developer that is willing to support it. This game has tons of cars to unlock and the online is really good. I've put over 100 hours in the game and I can say that I've enjoyed almost every minute of it. The graphics are top notch and each car has a personality. Don't let this game pass you by. There is free dlc coming soon, including custome soundtracks. If you like to race, or just drive around in a digital world, you'll enjoy the game.
Not all is perfect in this paradise though. The way the games event system is set up is you have to be at a certain point on the map. If you fail the event, you have to drive all the way back to restart. It can be a pain later in the game when you only have a few events left. But it doesn't deter from the funness(not really a word) of the game. Secondly is the pretty annoying soundtrack. How Avril Lavinge(sp?) ever got on a racing game soundtrack is beyond me. The later is being fixed with an update though.
Get this game. You won't regret it.

I am a fairly big fan of arcade racers. I liked quite a few of the Midnight clubs and Need For Speed series (my favorite is NFS3 for the PC, but Carbon was a ton of fun). I picked up this game hesitantly because the game was made by EA which lately has been giving the shaft to the ps3 versions of the multiplatform games. From review sites, it seems for once the ps3 got the better hand on this game, but I haven't played both versions side to side to tell for myself.
This is the first game of the series I've played. Needless to say, the first few hours can be frustrating. Finding your way around this HUGE open city can be troublesome and alot of the times you'll run in to cars when your looking at your radar. Once I started listening to the turn signal clicks, it made the game A LOT easier. I never did end up memorizing the layout of the city just because it's so big. There are alot of cars to unlock, including the carbon cars which require alot of fun play time. Unfortunately, once you unlock new cars, the majority of your old cars become obsolete, because you cant tweek them. So once you've unlocked 50 cars or so, don't expect to ever race those first 40 cars ever again, unless you have to do the Burning Route (which is an upgrade of the car your using, which also becomes obsolete). Game play was tons of fun, and i played for about 30 hours and still didn't unlock everything. There is alot of game play value in this game. Soon there will be an update that will allow you to race motorcycles and race at night time, which will add to the life of the game, also it is rumored to be able to use your own music to race to (which i think is crucial in racing games, because most of the times, the music is pretty bad).
Online aspect of this game is amazing. I love how it is implemented and seamless. You can be playing single player and all of a sudden you will get an invite from a friend and then without having to deal with game loads, or being relocated to a different part of the city, you will be playing with your friends. I loved completing the challenges with my friends.
This is easily the most addicting racing game I've played to date. The graphics I think are great, and its a feat that this is an open world. One problem I do have with this game is that fact that you cant play 2 player mode on the same system with your friend. This usually adds to the fun of racing games. Also another problem is the fact you cant restart your race if you're doing horrible. You can end the race in the middle, but you cant replay it unless you want to drive all the way back to where the race started. In a way it helps you learn the layout of the world, but I found it to be more frustrating than cool.

Great Game very addictive, you will spend a lot of time to finish it 100% and after that you will spend much more time to finish the online points
