 Great Game June 16, 2008
The game is fun. The goalies save most of the shots, but that's what happens in the NHL.

Maybe this game is hit or miss, but I can't stand it. I'm not a fan of the new controls, as I find it awkward to use both sticks at the same time. Also the slower frame rate, like in Madden, makes it look choppy, though not as much as it affected Madden. As some others have mentioned, it's impossible to hit anyone in the game and I find it so annoying that you either use the classic controls, which don't feel complete, or the new controls which are horrible.
The AI in this game is much better, but honestly, it even on Rookie I find myself taking 100 shots and still in close games, where the computer scores on 1/8 shots, which is ridiculous. You really have to use all of the controls, including the dekes and I can't stand it. I can't play the game enough to get used to a new system and wanted something more arcade-like, like NHL used to be. For those who want a sim, this might be great, but otherwise it, to be frank, sucks.
I am never going to buy anything in the NHL series again. This game is too much of a sim and, with fewer controls, even more annoying then those games that use every button. The only thing that would have been worse would have been using that useless Sixaxis feature.

This is not only the best EA Sports game ever, but also the BEST sports game EVER made! Very deep and easy to control. Very life like. Madden has nothing on this gem.

NHL 08 is one of the best games of hockey I've played since NHL 94' on the SNES. The controls are tight, the graphics are crisp and clean, and the A.I. is amazingly life-like.
PROs:

Accurate Depiction of an NHL Game
CONs:
Difficult (even on lower levels)
Controls take some times to get use to
Still some soft goals get in (seems to be a glitch)
Body checking is sometimes a challange
You'll hit the post no less than 8 times per game (WTF?)
All in all it is a very satisfying expierence. If you want a hockey sim, this is the game to get. It's the best hockey game in a long time.

This game has its Pros and Cons.
The Pros: Great Goalie mode!! Overall fun
The Cons: Your defense does not seem to have any interest in picking up the rebounds in front of your goalie. The offsides has its glitches, such as when you are infront of the blue line before a face-off, and you win the face-off, your teammates seem to be to anxious to get down the ice, and gets called offsides. Another really annoying glitch is when you dive in front of your goalie to block a shot, the opposing teams can just skate right into you and fall over and you get called for tripping.
All in all this is a fun game, and I have not tried to adjust anything, to fix the above annoyances.
