NBA 2K8 Gets Nothing But Net! April 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is great, but I'll start off with this: It is much, much better for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The graphics on NBA 2K8 aren't that great, but are good enough. The gameplay is what really sticks out in this game. It is easy to see the court, the passing is flawless, and the game has plenty of modes. I really liked how you could pick from retro, regular, and secondary jerseys for your team to wear. The developers really took time to make each player realistic and have their own unique abilities. The commentators are repetitive and annoying, but they are pretty acurate. The controls are pretty simple and are easy to pick up. The biggest dissapointment: NO SLAM DUNK CONTEST!!!!!!!! If they added that, I would have given this game 5 stars! If you have the chance, spend the extra money and buy it for the 360 or PS3. The graphics are much better than the PS2, and there's a slam dunk contest. NBA 2K8 is the best b-ball game for 2008 right now, so any basketball fan should buy it-especially for the good price.
Good Game February 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this game for my son and he is enjoying it. From time to time we play together, but he is starting to learn the game and pick up on some of the teams (Yes!!!). Graphics aren't the greatest and stealing the ball is somewhat easy. Other than that, it is a fun game.
BEST GAME FOR PS2!! January 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is probably one of the greatest games i have ever played sure they miss a lot of layups but that can always be fixed by the game sliders
i still dont like the fact that they didnt change the players to their new faces like steve nash with his new hair cut and stuff like that but its pretty good new signature shots and I LOVE TEH DUNKS THEY ARE AMAZING
this is way better than 2k7 and i definately recommend it especially at this cheap price
The best basketball video game! January 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and he was totally floored. The graphics are amazing and the live action is great. He loves sports video games and this one ranks as one of his favorites. A must have for any video game enthusiast!
Don't expect much... December 28, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
When getting the yearly updates for sports games on last gen systems.. you really shouldn't expect groundbreaking or breathtaking new features. What you should expect is... essentially the previous year's game... with little improvements here and there. I myself found 2k8 to have smoother game play than 2k7 and worth the 20$ I paid for it. My advice is.. is you have 2k7, you should probably save the 20-30 bucks that 2k8 costs. My rating for the game is solely based on my experience playing it.. not on how much it improved from the previous year.
PROS: - New dunk/shooting animations - Slightly crisper graphics and game play
CONS: - Exact same intro (fan reactions, announcing, etc) for every game - AI, which is touted as "Smarter...brings the NBA to life like never before", is actually retarded as hell. You can win against the Suns or Celts on "Hall of Fame" difficulty by 40. - No Dunk contest or any of the "new" stuff Next-Gen systems received - The music is described in one word... crap - The "Association" game mode is the same of previous years.
In all, the game was still a little more fun than the year before. I would suggest getting it only if you didn't get 2k7. The 2k series is still light years ahead (which is sad) of its competition and definitely more worthwhile because of its game play and price.
