Product Description The fan-favorite Sonic Riders series returns with a whole new form of chaotic racing by manipulating gravity itself! These gravity-altering powers can transform walls into tracks, or create a "black hole" that sucks you through for the ultimate speed boost, and allows for an entirely new way to gain a leg up on your competitors. From illuminated highways in a bustling metropolis to the outer reaches of space, you will race at the speed of light on 16 dynamic courses. Sixty different vehicles allow you to grind rails and pull off daring tricks on futuristic tracks, including solar loop-de-loops, height-defying vertical drops and tons of other edge-of-your-seat moves. As Sonic or one of 18 colorful characters, you will compete with up to three friends at heart-stopping speeds in three exciting multiplayer modes. With all the action, speed, and addictive game play that only Sonic can deliver, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is set for hyper-drive!

How awesome is this! January 23, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've seen so many negative reviews for this game, and I can't understand why. It is very addicting. I lost track of time playing this game.
Gameplay. Whether you are playing an easy or difficult track, it is just so much fun because there are different shortcuts throughout the tracks depending on what type of character you are (these shortcuts will not be available to other types). Trying to master the gravity commands are also fun, because I've just never seen that in a game before.
I found the controls to be very smooth and reflexive, I'm not sure why others are having problems in this area. Maybe I have a natural gift for it (probably gained this skill after playing Sonic Heroes..."No Sonic! I told you to follow the ring path, not jump off the cliff!!" -_-;;) BTW, I have not played many racing games, but controls seem great to me!
I would also like to applaud the music. It is astounding! The theme songs are great and the track themes are invigorating.
Graphics are also wonderful, CG movies included. I couldn't help but notice how Knuckles' face looks different, but I'm talking a good different! It has this certain personality that looks great on him. Maybe he's had this same look before, but I have not played many of the recent generations of Sonic games.
Storywise, it's a refreshing turn away from the chaos emeralds (thank god). Maybe that was another attention keeper for me. I would much rather learn more about the new gravity integration.
A personal joy for myself is the inclusion of Silver the Hedgehog! He's one of my favorites, I can't wait to play as him.
Now to be fair, I should probably add the (few) complaints I have had thus far with this game. If you choose a big character, like the albatross (forgive me I forgot his name), they block vision, meaning most of the time it's hard to see where you're going. Now I've only played up to the second track of Babylon, which forces you to play as him, and that was where I had the most difficulties so far. Yes, maybe the vision is only bad on that one track, I can't say for sure. Another came as a surprise, the free-racing track where you and a friend or few race on the track...the characters controlled by the computer ALWAYS left us in the dust! WTH? But that was when my friend and I were new at the game, maybe we'll pwn it this time around...
In the end, I highly recommend!
So far, so good. Sonic may be on the road to a come back. January 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been a fan of Sonic for a long time, at least up until sonic Adventure 2 anyways. For a while sega seemed to ditch out some sour sonic titles, heroes(BAD), shadow(Not too bad), sonic for ps3(which seems to be the worst). I had rented Sonic Riders 1 a couple of weeks ago, and was actually pulled into it, it was a little frustrating and only had a small amount of tracks, but it was fun since it showed the sonic world in a different view. I heard Sonic Riders 2 was coming out and ordered it immediately. I have been playing it non stop for a few days now, and I will say its one cool game, cool graphics, nice music and good game play. No its not the most amazing race game(If you are looking for a deep racing experience, its not happening here.) or sonic game ever, sometimes when you crash things can go haywire fast and you go from 1st to 8th in a second and it takes a little getting used to the controls, you have to practice a bit, but it is different and worth a shot. It has loads of characters(even some extra Sega Favs from past games) There are tons of different gears/models(60) to buy to match your racing ability and 16 tracks and extra missions for each stage. Also it has multiplayer games(though I have not tried these yet.) Cool game and I hope it helps sega bring Sonic back to his throne. Gameplay-8 Music-8 Graphics-8 Replay-7.5 Overall-8.0-
Not all that different from the last time around January 14, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity finds Sega and Sonic Team following pretty much the same formula they did with the original Sonic Riders, so not much has really changed since the last time around. The same character crew from last year are here yet again, as is the generic feel of the race tracks. What really hurts Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity however is that the controls are unpolished and unresponsive. This is the same problem that the first Sonic Riders game had, and that flaw is ever present here again as well. Also, the racing itself just doesn't seem fast enough, which was also present the last time around with the first Sonic Riders. Sonic has always been about speed, and you'd think a racing game that featured Sega's mascot on hoverboards would be all about the speed, yet the game never, ever, feels like it's fast at all. Graphically, the character models and most of the racing environments look pretty good, while once again, the Sonic characters feature their own voices and dialogue (please Sega, stop), and there are online leaderboards to follow, yet no real online play. If you enjoyed the first Sonic Riders game, chances are you'll enjoy Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, solely based on the fact that not much has changed, and there's really nothing all that different from the last time around either.
Sonic Shreds January 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Back a couple of years ago, Sonic the Hedgehog returned with a game that built for racing beyond light years with Sonic Riders. The game was absolutely such an underground success, it really showed that Sonic could definitely head back into the spotlight well. Sadly though, he hasn't been able to fully re-capture his glory days the way he really could. However, that hasn't stopped the need to build around a sequel that is meant for die hard Sonic fans, as he ggets ready to race his way into hearts all over with another need for hedgehog speed on the Playstation 2. But, the question is will Sonic ride his way to fierceness, or is this a crash and burn?
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity for the Playstation 2, takes what make Sonic Riders a success, and builds in a sequel. This time, you get the same racers through 16 all-new courses that defy grounds of Zero G. You can choose from the same racers as before like Sonic, Dr. Robotnik A.K.A. Eggman, Rogue, and Tails. The graphics look just as good as they did beofre, and the control is very strong here. There are a few new features here including gravity control, which lets you turn walls into new tracks and shortcuts along your path, as well as vehicle upgrades which make the game go above the extreme. Most of the game works just the same as it did before, as you earn points by performing stunts to keep the speed alive while racing your way to first place. Sadly, there is one big disadvantage here in the PS2 version. It lacks the use of playing against others online, unlike the Nintendo Wii edition, which lacks in multiplayer action.
All in all, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity isn't a bad PS2 title, and works as a decent racing game. But it isn't really an over the top sequel to Sonic and his mad dash to the finish line. It does a fare job at appealing to those who've loved the original Sonic Riders, but misses out in battling against others in multiplayer action. It is a good trial game, but not as definitive as PS2 fans could've wanted in a racer.
