The worse songs in the universe May 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
So I played DDR on Wii and thought, hey, what about buying it for my xbox? It's the same thing, right?
Wrong. The Xbox 360 DDRs are the worse pieces of musical tunes you'll ever hear. Where the Wii had a bunch of hits you can hear off the radio (kelly clarkson, the killers, etc), this version for XBOX has NONE. You know, the famous bands you saw on the back of the box? Well, that's the only bands you'll know. The rest are bad songs made by the programmers of the game. And they should've stuck to programming. Imagine yourself back in the 90s, with loud beats and screechy voices. Now, but a twist of powerade colors in the background, and you've got this game. Lame. Totally lame.
Also beware: 99% of stores will not let you return this $70-90 purchase because it has a game in it. So you're out the pad AND the game if you hate it, which I did.
Great fun on the dance floor April 9, 2008 Bought this to get my wife a little more enthusiastic about my Xbox; She was getting a little annoyed with the time spent playing COD 4. Must say this game is fun and a good work out.
Nice workout indeed! April 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading a story that one girl lost 95 pounds by playing this game, I was a bit skeptical, but I believe it now. I think it beats the treadmill workouts. After 30 minutes on Power Mode(6 minute fast tempo tracks,) I literally drench in sweat. It really is a good cardio workout. I dont think I ever sweat like this during treadmill workout, but then again, nobody really does any aerobic movements while running on a straight conveyor belt.
While this shouldnt replace your gym workouts, it is certainly a good alternative once or twice a week. Think of it as drinking orange juice as opose to eating an actual orange: While orange juice will give you Vitamin C, it shouldnt fully replace your fruit intake.
Some tips for beginners: Do not place the mat on the carpet as it will gradually move underneath you and will cause you to step on wrong controls after a while. The bottom of the mat is slightly-rubberized and made to stand on non-carpet sufaces. Also, if you are new, go straight to the training mode of the game...seriously.
Weak visuals compromise the game March 7, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pros: It's DDR. It has a lot of new songs, and a lot of new game modes too.
Cons: Inefficient use of screen real estate, especially if you have a 4:3 set, where it letterboxes. The arrows are small, and the "PERFECT", "GREAT", etc. text that appears when you take a step is waaaay too big--it hides a whole row of arrows near the top.
Great Game, Great Workout! February 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the XBOX 360 and this game for the sole purpose of using it as a workout routine. As a 35-year old woman, it's probably the best investment in my health that I've made yet (and far better than the money I threw at gym memberships). I get a great workout everyday in the comfort of my living room and have a blast doing it! Graphics are great. Song choices are great (I find myself singing them during the day). Workout mode lets you track steps and calories burned. I've been dropping weight/sizes since I started this new routine. I LOVE this game!
