4 out of 5 stars Great Product!!!   October 13, 2008
Ear Force X4 is the first set of "real" headphones I've ever purchased. The set up is super easy to set up and takes less than two minutes. The surround sound is great!! I definably feel that it has influence my game. Example, in COD4 you can hear other players around you, resulting in a better periphery experience (you can hear where your team is at and also when an opponent is sneaking up behind you to stab you in the back).
The headphones have also brought peace to my home. The wife is no longer yelling at me (or at least I can't hear her) to turn the volume down. I'm also not yelling into the mike due to the fact I can hear myself through the system.
The only draw back that keeps this product from achieving 5 stars is the "hiss" you hear during online play. It is not that distracting, but is constantly present. Playing without chat does eliminate it, but where's the fun in that?
I would positively recommend this product for all hard core gamers!

5 out of 5 stars Best out there,   October 3, 2008
This is not a perfect product, you can see that the materials and construction is far from perfect. But it works fine, sounds great and it is wireless. I really recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Sound   September 25, 2008

I bought these for my husband for his recent birthday since he plays a lot of xbox360 and he loves them! The sound is fabulous; both of us were amazed at how full the sound was. It doesn't even sound like its coming out of headphones, simply from the room around you. He's the expert and I'm the lay person in the family for electronics but we both love the headphones. My only small complaint, if it even could be called that, would be that they are a bit too big for my head even on the smallest setting. They fit my husband perfectly though so they are probably sized primarily for men. However, the headband and ear cups are plush and quite comfortable. Definitely worth the money!

5 out of 5 stars The best Wireless headset available for gaming!   September 23, 2008

This headset was designed by an Xbox live user who knows about the importance of 5.1 surround sound in gaming today. There is a hiss when no other sounds are playing, (which comes with every wireless headset) but it is no longer an issue when there is continuous sound. You can't hear through walls, but as long as you're in the same room as your receiver you will have great reception. I have noticed no distortion from turning my head in my room. With the great surround sound (which grants me the ability to watch movies with great satisfaction) the ability to lower the voice incoming from live users makes this by far the best available headset available. If you have a family like me or you want to play online games with the best surround sound than this is the best option.

3 out of 5 stars Good sound quality... except for the hiss   September 21, 2008

I've had my Ear Force X4's for a few weeks now and they've been okay. Sound quality is fairly good although I'm not convinced that they really reproduce surround sound. If you're playing video games, however, they suffice as you learn quickly to localize sounds (as in COD4) by turning slightly and tracking how the sounds move. The headphones are somewhat heavy and after a couple of hours are somewhat uncomfortable for me. Wireless reception is really good and you can get 20 feet away and at odd angles and it will still work. There is, as many have noticed, a moderately loud hiss that you won't notice if there is sound going on, but once its quiet, you will hear it. This hiss has nothing to do with whether or not you have a plasma TV, which apparently causes a different type of interference with the wireless IR connection. Battery life seems to be good and overall build quality of the headphones seems appropriate for the price.
