4 out of 5 stars GH Aerosmith   September 1, 2008
Do yourself a favor and buy the bundle. The Aerosmith guitar is worth it. This game is a must for Aerosmith fans. The interview clips with the band before every stage is pretty cool. Gameplay is great. Music is great. I only with that there would have been more songs. Overall great game.

3 out of 5 stars good story mode - faceplate scratches   August 14, 2008
game is good, I like it and I still play after finishing the story mode

things I don't like

- Downloadable Content (DLC) not compatible with Guitar Hero 3
- Les Paul Wireless faceplate with Aerosmith logo, which is the only reason I got the bundle, scratches off and I use my nails short, just by regular usage, it's losing it's cool red paint, could've invested on red plastic instead of painting white plastic red
- Popular recent songs from Aerosmith are not there (Crazy, Falling in Love) and they don't have announced any DLC for this game yet

3 out of 5 stars Aerosmith flavored Guitar Hero that doesn't offer too much   July 19, 2008
Since Activision and Neversoft took control of the Guitar Hero franchise, we've been getting a steady stream of sequels and spin-off's, with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith being the latest game in the series. Featuring a pretty good collection of songs spanning Aerosmith's long career, you'll find that besides adding the Aerosmith-themed presentation, the game itself is basically identical to Guitar Hero III. This isn't really a bad thing, but considering this is a full-priced game, it would have been nice if there would have been a little more overall variations. The track list here is quite good though, with even some bonus tracks from Joe Perry's Joe Perry Project to find and play too, along with some bonus interviews with the band. Where the game falters however is that there isn't going to be any downloadable content, meaning that once you get through the game, there isn't much reason to go back to it. Getting through the game isn't that much of a challenge either if you're a Guitar Hero veteran, as the game proves to be not all that difficult compared to previous Guitar Hero games. It should also go without saying that if you aren't a fan of Aerosmith, this probably isn't for you. All in all, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an enjoyable diversion that fans of the band will get a lot of enjoyment out of for a while, but in the end, the game doesn't offer enough bang for your buck.

5 out of 5 stars Sure, I'm biased   July 5, 2008
I've been an Aerosmith fan for about 20 years now, and I'm probably considered a "die-hard" fan. I've also played GH1, GH2, and GH Encore on PS2, so this was my first GH game for the Xbox 360.

The included wireless controller felt like putting on an old pair of shoes. I've had Rock Band for several months now, and I'm not happy with the Fender it comes with. It's uncomfortable to play, it's buggy (the tilt function works sporadically), and I hate being tethered to my console. However, for those of you who prefer the toy Fender to the toy Les Paul, the Rock Band guitar does work in GH: Aerosmith.

The track selection for this game is excellent, as well. Of the 24 Aerosmith songs in the game, 18 are from before 1980 (which is when Aerosmith produced their best material). The rest of the game includes one track from each of the original albums produced after 1984. Many will lament the lack of more commercially successful songs lie Jaded (too short) or I Don't Want To Miss A Thing (too Diane Warren-y). I will say that I would like to see more songs from Permanent Vacation (1987) or Pump (1989), but maybe they'll produce some DLC.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Follow Up   July 4, 2008

I actually enjoyed this game here are my reasons:

1. Difficulty in easier then guitar hero 3. Because of this I was able to improve my playing drastically.
2. There are very few instances of Notes being thrown up in the guitar solos. I remember in GH3 when all of a sudden a 100 notes with no coherent sense would spam the screen. This doesn't happen here.
3. Easy Achievements: By the time I had finished expert mode I had unlocked over 550 points. I barely reached over 100 in GH3.
4. Great Replay Value: This is the first game in the series that I actually want to complete because I know that I can with some work.

The only downside is that it is missing two songs I would have really loved "Jaded" and "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" which were the two songs Aerosmith sang at the half time show.

***Also people are bashing this game for the lack of songs but they should note that this is an expansion pack of the first game and that expansion packs never contain near the same content as the original game itself.
