contendor for a great gaming system July 19, 2008 I bought the nintendo wii for my 11 year old child. He loves it so much he can hardly stop playing it. I played some wii games with him such as wii sports and wii play. I am thinking of getting wii fit for the wii to help me excersise. If any of you adult folks want an excersise machine that is more fun than treadmills or weightlifting chairs, the wii will be the object you are looking for. So I suggest all of you great citizens of America go out buy you and your family a nintendo wii.
Who Can't Love IT? July 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm sure some of you out there are Wii haters, and that's cool. But for the rest of us average-joe mostly non-gamers this is a totally fun system.
It's easy to enjoy all the standard games with only a small level of gaming ability. Just be ready with Tiger Balm when you're done to address the strain in your shoulder joints. I seriously thought about icing mine after a strenuous game of tennis.
Also, this system travels beautifully. Pack it up and take it to the next party you go too.
I know some folks may think lowly of the Wii as it isn't as hardcore of a system (owing to its games) as the other seriously hardcore gaming systems out there, but who died and decided that a video game systems couldn't simply be mindless and fun? Geeze, isn't that how video games started out anyways?
Highly recommend this for couples, families, older folk, tennis players, those who dream of touring withe PBA or PGA and anyone else in between.
Great exercise even without Wii Fit July 17, 2008 I wanted to get Wii Fit, but couldn't find one so I went ahead and just started with the Wii. Much to my surprise, even these games are great exercise and a lot of fun. Try bowling 4 or 5 games with each hand. You've just done about 80 lunges on each side. If you don't feel that the next morning you're in a lot better shape then I am or else you're a whole lot younger!
Fun for parties July 15, 2008 We have had our Wii for over a year. We bought some extra games to play, but so far, the ones that came with it (sports) are still our favorites. We don't find ourselves playing with it unless we have a party, and need to entertain the teens or younger adults with something. Younger kids like it too, but the controls can be a little confusing for them when under age 5. My 5-yr-old had no problem figuring out how to do the bowling, or boxing, but tennis still baffles us all somewhat. Sometimes we swing, and it doesn't register as a swing at all, or it's "late" with the response. We don't own any other game systems. We chose this one to help us get up off our "sitters" now and then. No problems with the system. We are just getting to know all the "Wii points" and other stuff that can expand the system more. Overall, I'm glad we bought it.
Fun, but... July 14, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
to me, it's not a "real" video game console. I enjoy playing with my nieces, nephews, siblings, etc. with Wii Sports and Wii Play. Though, I would've liked the motion detector aspect a whole lot more if it wasn't the console's main focus. I guess I'm a bit of a purist. I like playing with my thumbs, and there really is a lot of distraction from that with this system. Like I said before, it's fun, but it's a little too untraditional for my taste.
