Crack-Life June 22, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best 3D-Shooter I have ever played. I've been playing this style of game since wolfenstein 3d, and I have never played one as much as I have played Half-Life. It is two years old and I still play it more than any other game I have. It has its faults, but none of them interfere with the actual gameplay. What makes this game so much better than all the rest is the amount of MODs or modifications that exist. For those of you who don't know, Programmers of 3D shooters often release the code for their games so that people who play the game can make modifications and add-ons for the original. Half-Life has 2 of the most popular 3D shooter MODs. Team Fortress and Counter-Strike are the two most evil things that have ever existed on the planet. If you have never spent a beautful summer month entirely indoors, and you buy this game, expect not to talk to your friends in person for a while. WARNING! This game has addictive properties and will call you when you are in your bed, when you are at work, when you are on vacation.
The best game ever now with expansion packs! June 21, 2000 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Half life isn't a game, it's a way of life. The most involving and enjoyable game ever produced for the PC it pulls you into the world of Gordon Freeman and his escape from the Black Mesa Research Facility.Essential a First Person Shooter with style, Half Life has incredible graphics and attention to detail, the helicopters being a fine example. Be warned, this game is HUGE, it goes on for ages and never gets boring. The slight downside is that there's a section at the end on Xen, the alien planet which changes tack too much and can be frustrating to complete. The expansion pack Opposing Force is a worthy sequel to the original game taking the action from a different angle. This time you play a marine who's out to get Gordon Freeman and the good thing is that there are fellow soliders (with pretty good AI) who are there to help you. Simply put this game is the business, from the introduction sequence, the alien AI, the graphics and the smooth gameplay there is nothing better. Buy it.
BRAVO June 16, 2000 This is the best game you will ever play in your life. It comes with 3 games in one pack and like that you won't have to miss the old episodes. Even though a very hot game is coming out on Sept. 2 2000 called Hostile Takeover with a terrorist situation. Half of half life is fiction and non-fiction,well you'll find out when you play if you don't have it.
Best game ever May 28, 2000 Excellent graphics, good plot, tons of fun, insane game, and gory!
What they don't tell you... April 29, 2000 31 out of 35 found this review helpful
OK, so this Adrenaline pack comes with 3 cool games right? Not really. You get Half-Life (the hands-down game of the century, but also available by itself for considerably less $$$), Team Fortress (an add-in that is freely downloadable from the Sierra website!), and the very mediocre expansion pack Opposing Forces. This is not worth the money. Instead just buy Half-Life, get the free add-ins, skip O.F. and play the other good free add-ins: Counter-Strike and Action Half-Life.
