Very good game. The online games will keep you busy for much time to come.
Counter-Strike--The most overrated game I've ever seen December 28, 2006 3 out of 13 found this review helpful
Counter-Strike is a Half-Life mod that allows people to fight as the terrorists or counter-terrorists. This is done on a massively multiplayer setting, so don't play if your connection is bad. On the bright side (what a small margin), the weapon choices and gameplay is raw and realistic. Source has also done a very nice job souping up the graphics and gameplay and banning hackers. However, counter-strike is definitely not for little kids. It is gory and expletive filled. A typical death of a Counter-striker would run something like this:
Player1: OMGWTF you killed me Player2: i are pwning you
Seriously, if it weren't for Source's auto-censoring, it could be worse than Snakes on a Plane language combined with Good Will Hunting language, mixed in with kindergartener grammar. It's very frustrating to be killed numerous times and have to wait another round. Unlike Halo's wonderful layout and intensive gameplay, Counter-Strike delivers a cheapened, vulgar version.
Great game. December 17, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you like first person shooters, it's hard to beat the constant challenge of playing real people online. Most first person shooters are single player, and after you play through you are done with the game. If they have a multiplayer option, it is usually slapped together and not very good. Often, it is a "spray and pray" type game.
This game keeps going, and is continually challenging. You will die a lot at first.
I am almost 40 so I am not as fast as these younger players, but I do OK.
You need a decent video card, and a fast internet connection, DSL or cable. Add 5.1 surround sound Kinyo headphones and you are really in the game. Many hours of fun. See you on the battlefield!
