5 out of 5 stars Half Life 2 for XBox /XBox 360   January 9, 2007

The game play is the best, the storyline. The graphics are good also. The puzzles that are presented are challenging.

5 out of 5 stars Best X Box game ever!   December 9, 2006

Without question, this is the best X-box game ever ( yes, better than Halo!)
I had a blast playing it!
It is not a full throttle FPS like Black or Mercenaries, but rather a sophisticated (yet very exciting) FPS.
Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Very good, with a few scratches.   August 15, 2006

Half-life 2 on XBOX is is better than other shooters like Halo and the like, because instead of simply going in for the kill, you have to be resourceful and quick witted to navigate the levels and overcome obstacles. Not to mention, and I loosely quote one of Halo's developers, Halo is all about the same thirty seconds of fun repeated over and over. He couldn't be more correct. In Half-Life 2, progression usually guarantees new sights, and stimulates interest in playing further. The guns are not anything incredibly original, but they are well balanced and have some cool features. At least none of them need ten seconds to charge to make one shot effective, like 'Covenant' weapons. As for story, the beginning is absolutely riveting as you work to escape the Orwellian cruelty of the Combine's city. The city itself is beautifully rendered and very believable, as are the NPC's. The alien creatures you encounter are a heck of a lot less annoying than Halo's Flood. I think the head-crabs could use work though. They look like animate rotisserie chickens! Awesome game, by far better than most of the competition. My only major complaint is that the vehicle levels are too long and repetitive, and the vehicle controls suck and you can't see a freakin' thing. This won't kill the game for you, but by God in the ski-boat level, it will definitely try. Anyway, if you like shooters at all, buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars Deserves to be the best Xbox game of the year   July 20, 2006
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

If you are about to switch to an Xbox 360, buy this game first as your last Xbox game, you won't be disappointed. This game has the best graphics I have ever seen on a console. Although it has great graphics, the physics are the real selling point. You can pick up virtually anything in the world and throw it around or stack it with the Gravity Gun (Zero-Point Energy Manipulator). Barrels float in the water like they should and explosions are suprisingly realistic. The enemies and challenging and varied and dead bodies flop around like they should (especially when you shoot them with the shotgun). The voice acting is very well done and characters will turn to look at you if you move around. The only drawback is choppy framerates at times. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Half Life 2: Pros and Cons   May 27, 2006

Pros:

1.Storyline is very detailed. There is a lot of twists and turns. I'm not going to spoil it...find out for yourself :)

2. The weapons are very nice. Everything from the classic crowbar (YAY!) and the gravity gun preform very well. You can damage just about anything in the environment and use it to your advantage.

3. The physics are amazing. Water rippling to things flying through the air is all very well done. Makes you get a real sense of the game.

4. The A.I. is challenging and varified. Also different weapons work better on some than others so it's fun to experiment.

5. THere is no really specific road to follow in this game. You can explore and find secret compartments and stuff.

6. There is actually a bunch of little thinkers in this game. In order to get somewhere, like in a sewage tunnel or over a fence, you may have to do something first, such as flip a switch or put something somewhere. Gives you a challenge.

7. Saving is nice. You can save anywhere in the game. So if you lose, you'll just go back to you last checkpoint.

Cons:

1. It loads a lot. If you have an xbox w/ a lot of games on it it might load slower. I'm not positive though. It runs pretty good on mine but yeah, there is quite a lot of point loading.
(But the game itself makes up for it)

I rated Half-life 2 4/5 stars b/c it is a very good game. It is very accurate with it's gameplay, making it as challenging as fun. Plus who can't resist playing baseball with headcrabs.
