2 out of 5 stars Cheap and Flimsy, but necessary   February 14, 2008

One of these comes with the Wii system. It is needed if you are going to play any real games, except for a few rare exceptions, like Super Paper Mario. There isn't too much need for a second one, unless you are a hardcore multiplayer person.

Although this adds the ability to move a character around, and lots of other fun stuff, it was poorly designed.

First of all, you'd think Nintendo would have figured out by now how to make a quality control stick that doesn't loosen up. Nope. The analog stick on the Nunchuk has N64-esque loosening problem. After only a month, that piece of crap was already loosening in the up direction.

Secondly, The padding on the stick is so frail, that at first it became orange (just from finger oils), then it started to peel off around the edges.

Third, I really wish there wasn't a cord. It just takes away from the whole unique gameplay experience. I heard Nyko is making a wireless Nunchuk. That's a pretty good idea in my opinion.

Last, but not least, It should have had some sort of ridge(s) to prevent it from sliding upwards out of your hand. But in intense gameplay, you often find yourself repositioning your left hand way too much.

The positioning of the buttons is okay I guess, but the Z button doesn't feel very satisfying when you press it, like there's just a little switch in the middle of it, and the button is enlarged to compensate, but that's a little nitpicky I suppose, It doesn't matter.

All in all, I just wish Nintendo would have thought a little bit more about the quality of this thing, and learned from past mistakes.

I do recommend it if your first is getting too worn out for you (likely), as it's not very expensive. With the Nunchuk, you really get what you pay for, and nothing more.

I researched several sites and e-bay and this was the BEST price including shipping for a brand new controller. I received them on time and yes, they were sealed and new. I couldn't have asked for anything better!

We bought this second controller so 2 people could play Madden 08 together. It's great.
