5 out of 5 stars Fantastic game that's over too soon   June 28, 2008

Wow. This game was amazing. I bought it because I liked the graphical style and wanted to see what Andy Serkis would bring to his role in the game's development. I was blown away by the dramatic storyline and fun gameplay. This is what next gen gaming should be about. This game couldn't have been done, at least not nearly as well, on the previous generation of consoles.

I have the same gripe that everyone else does, and that is that the game is short. However, I am happy that is isn't needlessly padded. I'd rather have an excellent short game than an okay long game. Adding additional "chapters" to the story might have caused the game's momentum to slow and the game to feel repetitive. It's like a book. Some stories take 200 pages to tell, while others can only be told with 1000 or more. Game length shouldn't be dictated by some arbitrary decision, but rather based on the story and game mechanics.

It saddens me to see that Ninja Theory has left this franchise beyond to work on something different. Whoever Sony gets to do the next game in this series has their work cut out for them. I hope they're up to the challenge though, because this is a franchise that I'd like to see continue.

4 out of 5 stars Short but good   June 23, 2008

Excellent graphics, very well done characters and voice acting. Great cutscenes. Great use of the six-axis. Good checkpoint/savepoint system (you'll never lose more than about 10 minutes of played time). Those are the good points about this game.
Short (I'm bad at action games and finished this in like 7 hours playtime), no real replay value, and repetitive combat are the bad points.
Makes for an excellent rental.

4 out of 5 stars This game is a must play.   June 9, 2008

I bought this game a while ago and it had been sitting because I couldn't stop playing COD4. I put it in and was hooked right away...a friend of mine was watching me play and he wants a PS3 now just to play it. Best use of the sixaxis by far. The only knock I had was that Normal mode was too easy in a lot of areas. I wish it would have let me play on Hell mode from the beginning. Then people wouldn't complain on how short it is. If you don't play a game on the hardest setting available...then you shouldn't even review it.

4 out of 5 stars Heavenly game!   June 4, 2008

It's a beautiful game with excellent visuals, exciting music, and great action! The action never seems to stop and the story is very fast paced. The game can be thought of as the female version of God of War. In the easy mode, all the enemies are easy to beat. You may, however, find it difficult to beat some of the final level bosses. But with some practice, you should be able to pull it off. The war scenes (gameplay) is just phenomenal.

In this game, you get to guide your arrows or missiles by using the SixAxis controller. This in itself is a great feature. This is a game from the slasher genre and your hands will start to pain after some time because of the constant button mashing. Again, let me stress that the game has excellent visual appeal.

The gameplay is short but you won't find it boring to play this game multiple times. If you are looking for a slasher game with some puzzles, then this game is for you. My recommendation is to go for this and include it in your PS3 collection. By far, one of the best games I have played on a PS3.

4 out of 5 stars Great short game   June 1, 2008

This game is short, but a lot of fun. It uses the six axis controls really well in the sniper type missions and I found the overall gameplay rather enjoyable.

The voice-acting talent is outstanding, especially for the main antagonist. I will say for that reason alone this game will remain in my collection and will not be traded in.

Overall I give this game a 4 out of 5.
