3 out of 5 stars This is supposed to be next gen?   May 20, 2008
The graphics were comparable to my PS2 and the player movements are "robotic-like". The side-line graphics are pitiful, with several players on the sidelines moving in sync. As often as they show the sideline, that just shouldn't be. Not much effort put into Madden 08, but it is Madden, meaning its still somewhat fun. Although, I'd rather play Madden 05 for my PS2, it looks about the same and plays much better! Hopefully 09 has major graphics improvements to make me feel like I'm actually playing a "Next Gen" game! I didn't spend money for a Xbox 360 to play PS2 looking games on it!

I was very impressed with the speed of delivery during the holiday season. The game is excellent and in great working condition. Wonderful experience.

This game was great. Once you find your plays it allows you to dominate and I love all the audible options.

Things I did not like. The multiplayer play select allows you to see exactly what play the other player picked. Also when you save your file, the game loops the message asking you to save even if you already have, it happens until you just cancel it out.

3 out of 5 stars Great game with a few glitches   January 2, 2008

I bought Madden 2008 as a Christmas gift for my son, who has a Sony PSP. It's a VERY entertaining game -- maybe too entertaining sometimes. In any event, I have not yet tried Superstar or Franchise modes yet, but will tell you that the game does freeze a lot during regular game play.

I have read other reports that this is not just a Madden issue and that there are a number of games that do the same thing, so it sounds like a PSP issue to me. However, here are two workarounds that may save you some frustration before you're having -- ahem, I mean your child is having -- the game of their life and then it locks up on you.

1. (Stating the obvious here) Save the game in progress to your Memory Stick after each quarter, just like you do with a Microsoft Word document on your regular computer. Ever had your regular computer lock up on you and you lose a whole document? Same thinking with your PSP -- Save, Save, Save.

2. When you get into a situation where you do lock up, try popping open the UMD access area for a few seconds (enough time to let the disc spin down). When you do, the PSP will ask whether you want to quit the game in progress. Before you answer, close the lid on the UMD. If you hear the disc start to spin up, you should be able to answer "No" and go right back to where you were in your game. Sometimes, you may have to do this twice. If it doesn't work after two times, you're probably not going to get it to work, so you'll need to power down and restart at the saved point in the game from Step 1.

I am not sure if opening/closing the disc cover is necessarily good for the unit or not, but it really does work most of the time. And when you're up 63-20 on the Patriots with two minutes to go in the 4th quarter, that's a gamble I'm willing to take...

Anyway, hope this helps. Good luck out there!
