KIds learning to shoot April 14, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this shooting games where all is so childishly designed (Mega MAn-Rockman series). But then i start to question myself, is this a game for Everyone or is for grown ups? because all this shooting madness is not ESRB E. but I thing that Ratchet and clank just as JAK and other naughty DOg Series are very good games , lots of stages, GUNS, and more GUNS, BOsses fights. So many colors you could have a headache. and non stop action, it also has a good replay factor.is a good option for teenagers. but not for kids .please parents watch out what you buy for your kids.
Best Rachet yet!! April 6, 2008 Best Rachet and Clank yet, with the new tools and challenges, makes you determined to beat it.
Creative April 5, 2008 Its really good one of the best for the Playstation 3 because there arent really any good games for the PS3 so its good to see a good title
A Fantastic Pixar Quality Epic April 4, 2008 Insomniac is no stranger to quality games. Throughout the PS2 generation, the developer pumped out quality Ratchet titles one after another, & more recently, they brought the PS3 launch standout: Resistance: Fall of Man. As great as those titles were, Insomniac seems to have really outdone themselves with this title: Ratchet & Clank Future.
Probably what surprised me most about Ratchet is just how vivid the whole experience is. The world is filled to the brim with colorful environments, Pixar level animation, humorous innuendos & clever gameplay. Simply put, this game's got style. Its mixture of trigger-happy alien shootouts, cartoony visuals, & tongue-in-cheek humor lend a distinctness that games are starting to lack. Just about the only complaint I have for Ratchet is that a good part of the game is far too easy. Fortunately, beating the game through once permits a challenge mode that ramps the difficulty of the game up for an inevitable 2nd play-through.
Do not miss this one.
An amazing game April 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Immediately after I beat this great game I continued playing from the beginning in challenge mode. I didn't even take a break until now to write this review. That's how addicting it is. Insomniac Games deserves heaps of praise for what they've accomplished here. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's on the level of Pixar, but it's definitely the best looking animated game I've ever seen. The whole production is top notch and it's obvious Insomniac spared no expense and went all out. So much stuff is happening on screen at the same time: enemies, explosions, spaceships flying, other characters helping you fight, all beautifully animated and without any slowdown whatsoever. This game shows off the power of the PS3 and we're still early in it's life cycle.
The diversity of gameplay is what keeps you interested over the long run. Even with graphics this pretty you still need a game to play. There are tons of weapons, gadgets, and devices to use and upgrade. It can be a little overwhelming at first for people not familiar with Ratchet and Clank games. Instead of just blasting though everything with one or two easy to use and powerful weapons, it's better to experiment with all of them. For example, I kind of ignored the Nano-Swarmers weapon when I first got it. But after using it for awhile it proved to be powerful and indispensable, especially toward the latter stages of the game when the enemies get tougher. As you use the weapons, they upgrade, so something fairly weak at first may become powerful later.
The menu system is great and it's really easy to switch between weapons. It takes seconds to switch on the fly between multiple weapons. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion could have learned something from this game.
Every level has it's own look and feel and there's always something different to do. There's flying with the robo-wings, shooting through tubes on the gyro-cycle, jumping around on grind rails, fighting in the arena, and more. Sometimes you play as Clank and his parts were creative and a nice change of pace.
There are complaints that the game is little too easy. For veterans of the series, and newcomers who manage their weapons right, then yes it might be a little too easy. But the difficulty picks up toward the second half of the game and the "easy" factor didn't bother me because the game is so much fun to play. Also there's no way this game is too short. Considering everything this game has too offer, there's tons of game here. Also, the voice acting is good, there are some laugh out loud moments especially in the prison level.
Ratchet and Clank: TOD is not to be missed. Thank god for Insomniac, along with Naughty Dog with their game Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. These two companies are carrying the PS3 on their backs with two outstanding games, and are paving the way for a bright future for the PS3.
