5 out of 5 stars (Lara Croft + Prince of Persia)*Indiana Jones = Drake   June 25, 2008
Video games are more than just game play in this generation. Hollywood style production value, excellent voice acting, clever use of controllers have become pretty staple for any big release. Uncharted Drake's fortune is one masterpiece when it comes to the complete entertainment package. Beautiful graphics, excellent gameplay with the right mixture of adventure and action, excellent voice acting makes it a great buy. you start as Drake, a descendant of Sir Francis Drake setting out to an adventure of a life time. With your friends Sully and Elisa, you have to solve puzzles to proceed with regular interference from the pirates. This game is a showcase of PS3's capabilities and will justify your investment on HDTV. Also, many complain that it is pretty short. But in my opinion, its short and sweet with a good replay value as you seek various hidden treasures as you proceed. Also, an experienced player will take 8-10 hours to complete which is pretty good. This game plays like a movie so your family members will not get bored watching you play while getting entertained by the dialog and graphics. This game is a definite buy for any PS3 gamer as well as a good game to start with PS3.

I am 64 and have been a gamer since Ataria and Intelevision. This game has every thing, plus the best graphics so far for the Play Station 3. Buy this game it's a winner!

5 out of 5 stars A must have PS3 title   June 25, 2008

Although the first half of Drakes Fortune is only moderately fun and entertaining, the second half is absolutely fantastic.

If you own a PS3, this game is one of those "must have" titles.

4 out of 5 stars No Title   June 23, 2008
'In a world of pirates, treasure, and curses, one man must rise above all others to save his friends and himself'. I guarantee you if Uncharted was a movie, Naughty Dog would have a voiceover as such. But calling Uncharted a movie would'nt be too far-fetched after all. Given the production of cutscenes, story and gunfights, Uncharted may be one of the closest interactive movie games on the market. Heck, I'd even wager it would even be par with Indy Jones(Spielburg could make Drake his kid).

Uncharted fallows it's hybrid outlines to a T, with such fluid pacing, Naughty makes it look easy. To put in basics, set in Indiana Jones enviroment/traps. Add a few gunfights with a 1:2 ratio of prince of persia platformning, and in essence, thats Uncharteds gameplay. Our hero, Drake, is an average treasure hunter, but his hold is that he's the long lost descendant of the famed explorer Sir Francis Drake, looking for Sir Frances' treasure of El Dorado. Using a newscaster host as a sidekick, Drake and co. head out for an unmarked island filled with all the greedy 3rd world seedy pirates vying for the gold as well. When you have the occasional run-in with the modern-day Black beard crew, Naughty gives a Gear of War cover system with gunslinging controlled by shoulder buttons. I've not played to many shooters, but the combat makes Uncharted a great 3rd person action-shooter.

But with all the positive said, what really 'grinds my gears' is the stiff camera angles. Often Drake's scaling leaping, and shimining abound across chandalers, rock crevices, and ruins. Which I really enjoyed, Naughty pays homage to Prince of Persia and a few dashs of Tomb raider. But constantly you'll be given pre-positioned camera angles which are constantly not showing enough for us to see. Often, I'd be jumping out into space, hoping I'd latch on to a ledge.
