5 out of 5 stars Just... amazing.   January 25, 2006

This game is the perfect blend of the gory violence we saw from Serious Sam, the satanic ambience of Hexen, and the smooth gameplay from the original Unreal. The scenery is amazing. The bosses are challenging. And the weapons are very original. Yes, there are "only" five weapons, but each weapon has a unique secondary fire, and some weapons (like the painkiller weapon) has a combo attack.

The storyline is a bit iffy at times, but I thought it was all right. It's nothing to cry over. Besides, this game is the perfect cure for boredom, especially when you need a break from "predictable" games like Half-life 2 and Doom 3.

This game is most similar to Serious Sam than any other game I can think of except whereas SS is mainly in large open spaces with hundreds of opponents, this one is more commonly in large rooms with dozens of opponents. That's OK - it's pretty much what I expected.

But what I don't like is the way you have no way to stack items except to repeatedly hit them randomly until they fall the way you want them. Then you better quick save because as soon as you try to jump on them they'll fall down and you'll have to start again. All the surfaces except the floor seem very slippery and moving on them is another exercise in frustration. I quit at the military base because I didn't spend $20 to waste 30 minutes randomly hitting tanks to stack them up so I could move on.

Most of the secret locations and holy items are almost impossible to reach unless you are prepared to spend a ridiculous amount of time on it. I'm not - I have a life - and it doesn't include this stupid game.

5 out of 5 stars I LUV IT   January 5, 2006
This game doesn't get boring for me. Sure its simple, but it's fantastic. The hard to find secrets add more life to it. Awesome weapons help bloody the floor with blown off limbs and torn torsos. The graphics are still amazing in 2006. The creators really should be commended with the quality of graphics and gameplay this title deals out. GET IT NOW and enjoy.

There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this game. Okay, wouldn't you agree that a good game can stand on its own regardless of how much it ages? There are so many other games like this that there is nothing original, I got about half way through level three before I called it quits.

Pros:
- Graphics

Cons:
- Extremely poorly done storyline, wouldn't have changed a thing without it.
- Shoot one enemy that blows up and scatters everywhere unrealistically then move on to the next to do the same.
- Atmosphere does nothing; I would've felt the same if the game was set to daylight.
- Enemies are lame, skeletons with swords? Monks with flying axes? Skeletons with a magical staff that annoyingly slows down your movement? Please.
- I love metal music, but the metal here grants no adrenaline rush what so ever. It's very soft and the music doesn't change.

Mindless action isn't always a bad thing... but this is truly as mindless as something gets. I think you have to have an empty skull and be really bored to be able to stomach this game, want some quality mindless action? Play Serious Sam 2 or Doom, forget this.

4 out of 5 stars Just what it sounds like, FPS killing the pain   September 27, 2005

I'll admit there isn't much plot or point to this game, but it does have mindblowing graphics,(just as good as DOOM 3). I don't know what all the bugs and patches are about that everyone is talking about. Hell i just upgraded my computer, i have an AMD Sempron 2800+ Processor, Overclocked to 2.0 GHz, 768 megs or RAM, and a GeForce 5200 FX Nividia Graphics card, and it runs Superb, no clitches and no sluggishness at (1024x768 resolution). I myself do like games better that have puzzles(example Resident Evil 4), and clues to find, but if you just wanna take out some aggression and just shoot your way through endless badies, turn out the lights and play in the dark with some loud 5.1 surround sound, you'll feel much better. So i agree but don't agree with most of the other bad reviews. Repetative yes, no fun, nope. Plenty.
