1 out of 5 stars This drive caused he USB port on my computer to fail   December 14, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I purchased the 500GB External Hard Drive. I plugged in the usb cable and the power cord, the computer recognized a "new hardware found". Then my usb mouse stopped working, I could not find the drive on "my computer", this hard drive fried my USB ports. I now have to purchase a USB card for my computer as the built in ones are no longer working. Taking this drive back to the store.

1 out of 5 stars Break down   December 6, 2008
i ordered this hard drive to iraq were im staioned. when is first plugged it in it didn't seem to have any problems because i already have the 250GB version. when i first started to load my music and videos it seamed like it was taking forever to load. after it was done it would take a few minites to load up when i plugged it into my comp. after about 2 weeks it just stopped working at all. being in iraq i wasn't able to mail it back within the 30 day warinty time so im suck here with a broken hard drive. but at least it makes for a good paper wieght. i don't recamend any buy this. considering how many other reviews say the same thing about it breaking down.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy   November 23, 2008
An excellent system that goes anywhere and is pretty much ready to handle anything, this spinning drive makes data storage a breeze. Total space is actually 464 GB, formatting and what not owning the rest. I chose not to use the pre-installed software, and had no problems with it. This drive runs super quiet and is very shock resistent. I'm extremely happy with it and will definitely buy from Simpletech again.

5 out of 5 stars Dependable and inexpensive.   November 22, 2008
I bought this drive mainly to collect data from employees computers that were laid off this fall. I was delighted with the ease of operation and the shear amount of data that I was able to get on this thing. I am very happy and satisfied with it's performance. Recommend highly.

5 out of 5 stars Simpletech 500 GB is great   November 16, 2008
It doesn't do tricks or get me a cold soda, but it does have a neat flashing light as it stores new data. Lets face it, storing data is what's important and this 500 GB hard drive does just that. With USB 2.0 connectivity, what could be easier! To be totally honest, I bought this one as a back-up to my first one(Identical unit) because I had to send the first one for repair of a burnt out power board inside the drive. Customer service was outstanding in that when I spoke to a representative I told him I did not want to ship the actual hard drive from inside the case, so he told me to remove it and only send the case (with the burnt board inside) and the wall transformer. After testing, he replaced the bad board and shipped it back to me free of charge.
So those are my experiences with these units.
