Sony DVP-FX820 Nice Job Sony! January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this portable DVD Player because of name recognition, and I'm very glad that I did. The product lives up to the Sony name! When I opened the box, it came ready to be used. Sony packaged the product well, so I didn't have to worry about any broken or missing pieces. The screen is just the right size, it is user friendly, and the movie was very clear. I didn't have any issues with this portable player. Without hesitation, I highly recommend this DVD player. The Sony FX820 is well worth the price.
Great quality January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This DVD Player has a very nice size screen with good color contrast. The battery life is very good, lasting about 5-6 hours. I've always liked Sony for these types of electronics, and from what I've seen this is is one of the best options in this price bracket. It's also fairly light to travel with.
pros & cons January 5, 2009 I just got this so this is based on a brand new product, not its dependability. Pros: first off I'd like to say how happy I am with the volume. My previous player could hardly be heard at top volume. This one is loud enough at 50%! I used to have to use headphones when not necessary in order to hear my old Mustek player. Another pro is that the screen is non-glare, a big plus in my book. However, the con is- the area surrounding the screen is not non-glare and it's very distracting while trying to view the show. I have to play with the screen to get it just in the right angle so as to avoid that annoying glare. But, for the price and screen size, IF it HOLDS UP! it will be a purchase worth the money. I'll keep my fingers crossed! I did notice with my Mustek that changes in temp do affect its performance to the point of not working for several days...hence the new player!
Solid portable DVD player January 5, 2009 I've only watched one DVD on this player, so I can't speak to the battery life (though it seems to be consistent with what's advertised), but I would definitely recommend this DVD player. The screen is very good and the sound is also really good (with headphones). I was debating getting a 10" screen, but it didn't seem like the higher price was worth it, and this player got the highest rating (the highest 10" rating I saw was 4 stars). I would agree with what some other people have said, that you probably don't really notice the difference between 8" and 10" that much. This unit does lack a USB port, which would have been nice, which was why I'm only giving it 4 stars, but if you just want this for watching DVDs, it's great.
You can't go wrong with Sony January 4, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter hated to go on the fwy for long drives, so I bought this to keep her entertained in the back seat. There are some other DVD players with lower prices, but I chose this one because I always trusted Sony products, no matter it's as cheap as an AM/FM radio or as expensive as a laptop computer. And I was proved right again this time. It worked flawlessly. The best feature I think is the "stop and resume", which means when you press "stop" on the remote, the machine will ask you if you want to start it from the beginning (if you do, press stop again) or from where you stopped, it's quite useful if it's a long drive and you have to make frequent stops, when you come back in the car and turn on the DVD player, it will start exactly where you stopped last time.
