The best blu-ray player and oh yeah it plays games too November 2, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The concensus is that this is the way to go when you decide to upgrade to blu-ray DVD's. Many people don't even bother playing games with it.
PS3 November 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This system is a great system and I am a huge movie buff so watching them in blueray is ten times better. Blueray players themselves are [...] so might as well buy a Playstation 3.
Disappointing Platform for Guitar Hero/Rock Band Fans and Movie Watchers October 29, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I can't begin to tell you how frustrating that this purchase has been for me. While the system is, strictly speaking, a PS3, I feel like Sony really stuck it to people like me who thought that they were buying a REAL PS3.
The biggest thing that drives me crazy is the LOUD fan noise - When we watch a movie, this thing sounds like someone left a hair drier on medium setting behind our TV. That's not an exaggeration. During quiet scenes, it's very distracting. Apparently the "real" PS3s don't have this noise.
It also has only two USB slots. You'd think for a Bluetooth system, you wouldn't need more than two so that you can charge your wireless remotes. But Rock Band came needing three USB slots. I know that that's not Sony's problem - but every other PS3 model has more than two USB slots.
It's not backward compatible. When the PS3s first came out, they said that they were all backward compatible. Turns out not so much. Not with the cheap version.
If you're getting a PS3, you'd better read the specs VERY carefully to know what you're getting. It's not just a difference in hard drive size!
My Only Game Console Review October 26, 2008 I own a very small Playstation 2. It looks like the bigger one but smaller. I used to share it with my brother until he got an XBox 360 last year for Christmas then he gave the Playstation 2 to me. I have a couple questions. Does it play normal DVDs and PS2 and PS1 games? Please comment the review with the answers please. I was 11 in 5th grade when I heard adults were camping out at Best Buy so when they opened they would get the PS3 or the Wii. A couple of my friends asked me what would I rather have. I chose the PS3. I recomend this for all game console fans and Playstation fans. Just be careful when opening it up and putting it together. So Playstation 2 fan Casimus Prime signing off.
Excellent Entertainment Hardware October 3, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've always been a Playstation fan but I've mostly been a PC gamer until recently. I choose the PS3 over the XBOX360 because of the Blu-ray player and I'm glad I did.
The system is so much more than just a gaming machine. It's an entertainment machine. I love the ability to set up my home PC as a media server and stream video and pictures through the PS3. I love the Playstation Network. Being able to download and play game demos is a real plus.
I also feel the PS3 is more forward looking. Within the next couple years as games become larger the XBOX360 will be held back by standard DVD capacity. The PS3 will not suffer from this due to the much larger capacity of the blu-ray disc.
