Fun family game December 21, 2008 This was a fun game for mom, dad, and a 5 year old boy. Our favorites are the FF series, Zelda series, Okami, games like that. This game reminded me of Gauntlet, lots of fun without much tedious work. It's not a long or complex game, so don't expect a mental workout like some RPG's, but it's quite a bit more interesting than a typical smash button game.
Fantastic Game from an Excellent Developer December 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have never played a Ratchet and Clank game before this one and I can definitely say that it doesn't matter. Tools of Destruction is flat-out fun and awesome; the weapons are amazing (I never stopped laughing whenever I put up a groovitron) and the presentation/graphics are awesome. Some of the platforming aspects are rather "blah" but that doesn't really hinder the experience one bit because this game is all about the action. Oh yeah, it's pretty funny, too.
Delightful December 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I haven't played video games in over 20 years. We got a PS3 a few months ago, and I picked up Ratchet and Clank based on the reviews. This game is just delightful. It looks fantastic, and for a novice gamer, it's not difficult, but still has a huge variety of environments, weapons, villains to fight. There are a few aspects to the game that are very repetitive, like dancing in the pirate costume, and the space battles are not very interesting, but these are only minor parts of the game. It took a little over a month to get through it all, playing for a few hours a week. Our 4 year old son enjoys playing the game too, although he needs help with some of the trickier parts. Overall, this is a very creative and enjoyable game.
Realy, Really Fun! December 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game seems to be about smashing lots of baddies and or blowing them up in cool ways. My wife likes to watch me play it. Graphics are really great and while I'm not really into platform-ish games I can see playing this one more than once. One of the great games for the PS3. They really should bundle this game with the PS3, it's that good!
Rememeber this genre? December 6, 2008 This game is phenomenal. I could really end it right there, but it deserves so much more. Like the other games in the franchise, it contains some of the most likable characters in the gaming world. Actually, it's hard to find an aspect of this game that isn't polished to a shine. The voice work is great, the writing is great, the visuals, controls, gameplay, atmosphere, sound, everything is great! If you're a little tired of the crazy amount of music and first person shooter games out on the PS3 and 360, absolutely give this one a try. I've yet to meet anyone who regrets picking it up.
I have yet to be dissatisfied with a game developed by Insomniac Games.
