Nyko Wii HD Link Component Cable December 14, 2008 Worked like it was supposed to without any problems. Saved money instead of buying official nintendo brand - was surprised at the difference in clarity and color with component cables over the regular video cables supplied with the Wii.
Excellent value and worth the price December 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is half the price of the same cable sold at retail stores, and it works just as well. If you have an HDTV, a component cable is the way to go. Component reduces artifacts that occur in composite cables (the one that comes with the Wii) due to the combination of 5 video signals onto a single 'composite' conductor. Ideally, Nintendo would just give us the component cable free, but..

Excellent! December 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I upgraded to these for my 1080dpi TV the other day & there IS a difference. It's not an HD difference but then again the Wii is not HD. What I noticed was that the image, overall, was clearer, brighter & a little sharper. It was as if a slight layer of film on the screen was removed & when I moved across the screen the overall image didn't fuzz up and stayed clear unlike with the standard AV set that comes with the Wii. The graphics also looked sharper all around. Looking at the edges of objects they didn't seem as jagged as before. I personally noticed a difference when I played RE4 Wii edition too. All in all it's what I had hoped for & it works perfect for me. Remember though, it's not going to make it look like HD but it does clean it all up nicely. Also remember to change the `screen' setting in your Wii after installing these cables to take full advantage of their performance.
Probably NOT worth it... December 9, 2008 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this from amazon a week ago. Their processing and shipping time were incredible--5 stars to amazon for that! However, I would think twice before purchasing this product.
I went into it with my expectations managed--knowing the Wii is not HD and that this product would not make a huge difference. However, I did not expect to go backwards in video quality...and that is exactly what I've experienced. And, after searching nintendo's message boards, a lot of others have said the same thing. If I had it to do over again, I'd put the $15 toward a new game.
I will say that overall the color and some of the image quality is better. But, my experience is that with any game that uses Mii's (Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Fit...), with this video cable and the Wii configured for 480p, the Mii's look terrible--very jagged edges. I've messed with this a lot and if I set the Wii back to 480i, it looks normal.
But, what is the point if I have a HDTV, component video cables and I can't set the Wii to 480p? To me this defeats the whole purpose.
I called Nyko to see if they could clarify this and pretty much got nowhere. I really think these companies are putting out all these useless Wii
Wii Component Cable December 2, 2008 Works well. Have not had any problems during the three months that I have had it. Produces slightly better quality images than the composite cables that came with the Wii.
