1 out of 5 stars Your dog will find this game too easy.   September 24, 2008
I really wanted to like this game but was instantly dissapointed. Introduced it to some guests and, after a round, wanted to play the golf game in Wii Sports. The controls are so simple that I haven't even landed a ball in the rough, much less a sand trap. The interface quickly removes any need to think about a shot. There's no challenge, just massive boredom. I liked Hot Shots golf on the PS2 so I had high expectations for this one. Maybe they are trying to target the pet and houseplant demographic.
One minor plus is that some of the single player challenges can provide a little enjoyment.

4 out of 5 stars Better than Par...total Birdie!   August 31, 2008

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how people can not like this game. I bought it when I was in a toss-up over it and that other popular golf game for the Nintendo Wii. I dont play golf, I have never played golf, but I am pretty sure it wouldnt ever be like anything envisioned in a videogame...even the best one made.
The control for the Wii is easy to learn, and something that even my two daughters (5 and 3) can figure out. They may not get the finer points and even know how to sink the ball, but they have a good time playing the game with my wife and I. Pretty cool that its a game and we can all play as a family and everyone gets to have fun.
I know that there are purists out there that say its not like playing a "real" game of golf...but like I said, I dont think I had an preconceived notions going into it that I was going to play 18 holes in my living room. Its a fun game that we enjoy as a family.
The graphics are crisp and the animations are nice as well. The toons arent as cartoony as one would find in the popular Hot Shots series for PS2, but they arent super real either. Just the right amount of virtual insanity.
The Wii control scheme, while seeming like one should hold the wiimote like a golf club, can actually be better realized if one holds it like a baseball bat. (again, not really lookin' for a real way to play golf) I find that my wife and I usually have a really close game as it is easy to come in under par, but just as easy to overguess it and end up a couple of strokes ahead. Putting seems to be pretty flawless and I can happily gauge the distance and power neede about 90% of the time. There is a shallow learning curve, and once past that the game is great.
I really like this game and am glad that I have picked it up. Its something that is easy to learn, somewhat challenging to master and offers fun for a wide range of ages. I would say to shelve the expectations of being able to go head to head with Tiger on skills picked up from this game, and just jump right in to a game that is easy to pick-up-and-play but offers fun for the whole family.
Reccomended for those that arent too serious about thier golf game, and those ages 8-88 who are lookin' to have a ton of fun. Great game. Extremely happy with my purchase!

1 out of 5 stars Horrible... don't buy this   August 18, 2008

I just bought this game cause i'm pretty much a sucker for any golf game and my god is it awful. The swing mechanics are horrible, the animation is horrible, and the courses are incredibly boring. The animated Wii Controller that sort of caddies you through your swing is incredibly annoying. Only 3 courses, 4 players, I didn't even bother trying to play it online. The golf game that comes with Wii Sports is MUCH more intuitive and creative... and makes much better use of the controller.

I haven't played Tiger Woods yet for the Wii, mainly because I can't stand the Xbox versions of the game and the fact you can't save a game in the middle of a round so you can return and finish it whenever you want. I also haven't played Super Swing Golf yet because I'm completely addicted to the PC version of that game, Albatross18 (http://www.albatross18.com).

If you are looking for a cartoony golf game with crazy fantasy courses and over top special shots, look no further than Albatross 18. It currently has 14 courses to play on, 8 playable characters, tons of special clubs/clothes/balls/abilties, seasonal and rare items to obtain and win, and a good mix of purchasing items through money (pang) earned in the game, and spending real money. The game itself is free to play, and is massively multiplayer online with people from all over the world. It's a typical 3 click game though, so if that's too mundane for you than steer clear of it. Super Swing Golf is supposedly an exact duplicate of Albatross18, and was made by it's parent company in Korea, but is constantly adding new items to it where the Wii game has static content.

1 out of 5 stars Craptastic   August 15, 2008

Anytime it takes over 50 "Swings" to even hit a short putt because of the crappy control scheme there is a major problem. Let me fail and learn instead of not allowing my shot. I golf in real life all of the time and this is nowhere close to it. Save your money, this software is absolute crap and will only frustrate you in the end.

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE-TERRIBLE-TERRIBLE   August 14, 2008

Don't waste your money if you are looking for a game that is as much fun as the golf game that came with Wii, or if you like Tiger Wood 08.
As the previous reviewer states, this game does not take advantage of the fluid motion of the Wii controller. When I contacted tech support about my dissatisfaction, they told me that this game is an 'arcade' game and does not operate like the original Wii golf. Why did they bother.
Might be good for 5 and 6 year olds, but not for anyone looking for a game with the feel of golfing.
