Don't buy the Hype September 26, 2007 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
So... I heard from all of my Halo playing friends that THIS was the game to get. I HAD to get the game they said. The hype was huge, and despite my spidey senses telling me "dont buy it- wait to play it- you havent even seen in game footage yet!" I listened to my buddies and went out and bought it. To be honest- I wish now that I hadnt. Call me what you want- but I am NOT impressed with anything other than the hype machine behind it.
To me this looks like just another FPS with graphics that "pass" but arent anything new or impressive in the least and dont come close to matching all of the media hype and pretty trailers.
The sound is quite annoying at times- like the aliens that sound like the munchkins in the wizard of oz. Am I missing something? Was this supposed to be a comedic game? Other than that the game seems to take itself seriously.. TOO seriously in fact. By the second or third telepathy flash (or whatever you call it when the blue chick gets in your head and you see what looks like a bad video feed in your brain), me and my buddy I was playing with were laughing out loud at how bad it was... SO cheezey! Like a bad B-Movie! Is that what Halo is SUPPOSED to be? Am I missing something? Someone please tell me if I am.
Play control is ok- but often counter intuitive in my opinion.
I REALLY wanted to say "WOW"... all I have said so far is "meh...so-so"... And after all of the publicity I was expecting a game rating of 5- or at least a four! thats why I give this a two... for letting me down after such huge hype.
But hey- they got my money right? I give the hype-machine a 5 out of 5 for sure!
Fun September 26, 2007 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am sad to see so much useless halo bashing on this page. A lot of these reviews do not specifically target anything and seem to only bring the rating down. My review however will be short and sweet as well and will cover only one thing. And that is how much fun I had playing the game. It was a blast, Bungie gave me the ability to finish the story of halo with three other friends, as well as switch over to multiplayer for an almost neverending online experience. The main thing was that I had fun and am glad I purchased a 360. So five stars it gets. I also recommend Bioshock for people who enjoy FPS as I recently got it and was shocked by its quality of gameplay. If you like Halo get this game, if you did not then dont worry about it.
P.S. Will someone please silence the PC fans who bash every console and console game, it is very annoying.
TIME TO SELL September 26, 2007 23 out of 68 found this review helpful
If you are a victim of too much hype ... just like me who mistakenly bought this game cause Microsoft spend millions on too mush fake hype then sell it before it's worth pennies.

First to let you know about myself so you don't think I am biased .... I am XBOX and Microsoft fan. I've been playing games for last 22 years so you can imagine I have gone through many generations of video gaming. I myself is IT Systems Architect.
I played this game for hours yesterday before coming to conclusion. Honestly I bought this game because of too much Hype ... but all my expectations were broken yesterday.
The Halo3 gameplay is average nothing special. No special fighting moves or movements just simple FPS. The Graphics are below average when you compare them with the graphics of Gears of War, BioShock, MassEffect, or Timeshift. There was a hype about no frame drop ... that is completely false ... there are frame drops and any body can notice it.
It is completely unbelievable that all the editorial critics said that they have never played such a fantastic game. Either Microsoft filled their mouth with a lot of money or they are also nothing more than hyped critics.
Lets see how much of $10 million fake hype can take this game to.
Lazy Bungie gives us a decent game September 26, 2007 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have to agree with some of the other reviewers, Bungie got lazy when it came to sound effects, ally AI's and graphics of the story scenes. The sound effects are like the other Halos but I was hoping for better especially after playing Bioshock (which freaked me the BLEEP out because of the sound). The ally AI's are IDIOTS! I like that the enemy AI's are better and smarter but why couldn't they give you some control over your ally AI's (i.e. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a different type of game I know but at least you could tell your allies to defend or follow when you wanted them to). Your allies constantly go into ambushes and create chaos because they just go when they want and you end up losing them most of the time. Then they also cross in front of me when I am shooting multiple bursts instead of behind me so I accidentally fragged one or two. The graphic of the stories scenes are so choppy and the characters unreal its a shame. While the graphics for the rest of the game play is good, you get to these scenes and its like you are watching marionettes act out a scene. These are not XBox 360 calibur graphics! An improvement in this area would have been what the customers deserved! I also take issue with the fact that you don't get a chance to find out what happened to Master Chief after part 2 and before this chapter unless you got the comic book that tells you the story. What kind of none-sense is that? I haven't been able to find the comic so I have no idea what is going on in a general sense. This takes the passion and makes me less drawn into this world not knowing what is happening to one of my favorite characters in gaming. One other thing is I hate that you can only carry 2 grenades of any type, 2 weapons (HELLO haven't you people watched RAMBO?) and one type of special items(i.e. bubble shield). I would have liked to have had at least 5 grenades, carry 3 different types of weapon and 2 special items.
I haven't finished the game yet but I'm hoping it isn't as short as some people are saying and I hope that they give us a good story to send us off a little bit satisfied that we bought this game. If they did this I'll see about changing my review and giving them another star. If not, I'm never going to buy another Bungie game again because I refuse to give money and support to a company who doesn't give love back to the fans who have given them so much(ala cash) in the past.
Overall its ok, almost good, definitely not great or mindblowing. I'd give it 3.5 stars overall if I could!

I just got this yesterday and made it through the first few levels and wow! This is an amazing improvement from Halo 2 (which ruled). I think I play this and the others for the movies in betwen levels. When is the movie going to get made?? WE WANT THE MOVIE!!!!!!!! C'mon Peter Jackson!!!
