Neat addition to your xbox October 20, 2007 This pad isn't for everybody but it sure is great if you have to type anything at all. It's primary purpose is to allow IM'ing from the console but it also allows you more easily send standard xbox live text messages and even fiddle with the all-too-cool screen name without as much pain.
Outstanding product October 17, 2007 This device is a great little product for people like me who get incredibly frustrated by inconvenience. To type anything in on the Xbox, whether it's character names, messages, or other instances of text, you either have to use the online keyboard interface, which is painfully slow and annoying, or get out the old usb kkeyboard, attachi it, and type a couple of words -- highly inefficient for a tiny bit of typing. This pad solves that. It's small, fits well into the 360 controller, and it's of course wireless. Plus, typing with these keys is oddly satisfying, the clickiness is just right. My only complaints are that the multiple shift functions are slightly non-intuitive (I type a lot on regular keyboards, as well as a Blackberry 8800), and I frequently mistype certain punctuation marks. Also I can't get the chat function to work with my existing MSN chat account and buddies. Granted, that's not the device's fault, but it's the primary purpose of the device, to chat. The fact that I think it's a great add-on despite the lack of chat perhaps speaks to my frustration level whenever I see that virtual keyboard nonsense.
Finally! October 15, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ever since I got my 360, I have had such hate for sending people messages because just to say hello takes so long. This is the answer. The only downfall to it is that it's slow sometimes, so you can't type really fast, but you're still miles faster than just using the joy stick to do every letter. For the price too, who can beat it?
Awesome accessory, works like you want. October 15, 2007 If you like to send text messages over XBLive or wish to use the MSN support, this chatpad is a must. The keyboard has a nice solid feel when you click the buttons. The unit is backlit, letters are east to see. Works very well, you can type fairly fast without an issue. This is especially useful if you have to fill out forms or input settings and things like that. I would have given it 5 stars, but its not yet supported in many games (like in chat lobbies for example). It does work with EA's skate (when you see the virutal sidekick), so thats pretty cool. For the cheap price its going for, its totally worth it. It also comes with an extra headset (that only works with the chatpad) but then you can use the old headset for the 2P controller so it works out. Overall a fun little accessory even just to make your controller looked tricked out.

Its ok i guess i have not used it much though and the headphones that come with it are garbage. But i guess if you text chat people it would be really great.
