Many, many people have bought this little gadget thinking that the phrase from the developer's own website, "Chatting with friends and family on Xbox LIVE and Windows-based PCs is easy using the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit," implied that it would work on the PC. It does not. I still have to sit there hunched over a keyboard while playing video games.
If you intend to buy this for your PC use instead opt for the Madcatz add-on to the PS3 controller. It works with a PC.

I use this to text my friends online to tell them about stuff you no basic s..., but this is a great text messaging kit, xbox360 rules.

I live in a very small apartment and so I don't have to keep my wife up at night, I bought the Xbox 360 Text Messaging Kit for chat with friends. It is very easy to use and easy to hook up. The backlight is very helpful at night and easy to see.
Not only is this good for in-game chat, but for general use it's way better than using the thumbstick.
Overall, a very nice purchase for the price and would highly recommend this product.

First things first, this product works exactly as I had hoped and pops in and out of the control quite easily, if needed (I take it out while playing tetris).
It adds a little bit of heft to an already nicely weighted controller, but not so much that it's cumbersome. Also, where the pad touches the controller, there are little rubber pads that keep the pad from scratching, vibrating, or slipping once attached to the controller--a smart detail.
I got this because leaving any message longer than a few letters is extremely frustrating with just a d-pad. In reality, I don't use it as much as I thought I would because most of the time I send a voice message.
If you write a lot, this product is ideal. If you don't, same the money and buy another game!

This messanging kit is great. It's easy to use, and extremely durable. Also, it comes with it's own headset. The only problem I've experienced, is that it can be hard to plug it into your controller, and it's uncomfortable to have it attached to your controller while playing games. Other than that, it is one of the best accessories I own for the Xbox 360.
