Great Game, Just Too Short August 2, 2008 Just for the record, I don't have an account, so I borrowed this one.
This game is loads of fun. I like the idea of choosing your character's appearence, dialogue, and backround. The combat controls are great, except the Mako takes time to get used to. However, this game has only 6 main levels. There are side missions, but they're not much trouble. I beat this game in a week. While I do think this game is really fun and detailed, I only recomend renting it.
Live Another Life...... August 1, 2008 This game is immense. Your the commander of your own ship that can travel entire galaxies. Your given missions and side jobs to earn credits, create allies, find your enemies, and earn a reputation. It has real time, in-game dialog. Which means it lets you say or respond to whomever your talking to with a variety of choices. Its a interesting first for a game that I've played, and its fun. You can be the hero, or the bad boy all depending on how you respond to aliens. There is a main plot or story, but its really open ended. The gun fights are primitive, but the gun upgrades and armor upgrades can be fun. The key to this game is you must explore like crazy. If you do not have patience, or significant time to donate to this game...then its not for you. Its not that hard to achieve all the goals in this game....its just remembering all you have to do can be tiring. All in all, its unique experience. Graphics wise, its good. Not the best out there, but the all the characters move and talk in a manner that is almost as good as some PC games out there. Worth while investment over all.
mass effect sucks! August 1, 2008 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
What a boring game. This game is a bland attempt to reach as many gamers as possible, and to be everything for everyone. RPG? Don't you believe it. The rpg elements are simplistic and repetitious. I would rather play KOTOR for the 3rd time than waste another hour on this boring trype. If you liked Kotor, Morrowind, Oblivion, or Neverwinter nights, stay away from this boring, frustrating stinker of a game.
One of the Best Ever for any console. August 1, 2008 Read the other five star reviews already here for in depth discussion on all the superb aspects of this game. No need to repeat everything they've said - I agree with every single point. Highest marks for gameplay, music score, fun, replay value, atmosphere, and overall presentation. This has a massive world to explore and discover and mysteries abound at every stop. Highest Possible Recommendation. Over and out.
Space adventure title had a "Mass Effect" on my free time July 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'd been looking forward to playing this game for months before it came out. So when it hit the store I picked up a copy and it did not leave my x-box for weeks and weeks. I am a casual gamer, but I'm very avid about great games like this.
If you are wondering whether or not this game will be fun for you, it will! Mass Effect has something for everybody. The graphics are outstanding, and navigating through a galaxy is soo much fun! There are 'choose your own adventure' moments, the dialogue system is fluid and great. The story line is one of the best I've ever experienced in a game. The intense level of character customization is unmatched by any I've seen. The action and third person shooter playability are outstanding. The weapons, bionic powers, and armor are fun and varied enough to make it interesting all the way till the end. Plus, you get to build your team, so you're not just stuck with the type of character you create, you really can get it all. I did a LOT of the side missions before finishing the main story line, because I didn't want this game to end.
The only think that sucks in this game is the driving system. There are a few (very few) times you have to drive your rover around a planet over rocky terrain, and its horrible. If you're on flat ground its fine, but this is something they need to address for the sequel.
If you enjoy a great story, a good score (sound effects) in a game and want to get drawn into a game with great graphics and playability - GET THIS GAME!
