5 out of 5 stars very easy to use!   January 24, 2008

I know very little about things concerning the internet and hooking stuff up (I'm a 21 year old college student that needed a wired connection for my dorm), but this was extremely simple! You just plugged the included wire into the wii adaptor and then into an open spot on your modem and you're done, that's it! I love it because it's easy to hook up and put away, although the games take a minute to download when you buy them. A highly advisable buy!

5 out of 5 stars Should have been included onboard!   January 7, 2008

After first setting up my wii and then spending about 4 hours trying to connect it to my wireless router, I gave up and purchased this adapter.

The Wii internal wireless was incompatible with my DLink 802.11g router. In order to even get the Wii to partially connect to the Internet, I had to disable wireless encryption and force channel 11 (which is very overused in my apartment complex and was pretty much required by Nintendo support).

After researching why my Wii refused to connect on Nintendo's site I found a page that stated my particular version of my router for some reason unknown to me is incompatible with the Wii even though every other wireless gadget I own even down to a pocket PC works perfectly fine even with security at its maximum.

Deciding that the Nintendo wireless is pretty much useless I purchased this adapter. In 1 minute I was online and working fine ever since. Its also much nicer being wired since I pretty much totally dislike wireless connections.

Nintendo definitely should have included this onboard.

5 out of 5 stars works well, no problems yet   December 21, 2007

This does exactly what it says it will do, and even comes with a 6 foot ethernet cable. If that isn't long enough, the adapter has a wire on itself a few feet long as well. Overall, it gets the job done just as would be expected.

5 out of 5 stars Works for me...   December 6, 2007

Picked this up since I'm on a college campus and not allowed to run a wireless router in my dorm. Just felt the need to explain why anybody would even need this thing, with the Wii having 802.11G built-in.

Anyway, there's not much to say. Opened it up, hooked it to the back of the Wii, ran the included cable to my network port, then switched my connection to "Wired" from "Wireless" int he Wii Internet options. Done. WiiConnect24 works fine, online games have been working fine, no issues.

The only thing I noticed is that I wasn't able to find the MAC address for the adapter in the menu (I could still find the wireless one). Didn't search too hard, because I just turned off my filter to get it then turned filtering back on with this device added. I'd wager it's probably in there somewhere. I just don't remember it being anywhere that I'd think to look.

Oh, and the ugly beige cord included. I mean, obviously it's just a cheap pack-in, but you'd think they try to find some white or something to match the adapter/Wii. Not a big deal, though, and really I'm just glad they threw in a cord at all.

If, for whatever reason, you need to hook your Wii up the old-fashioned way, this should fit your need perfectly.
