4 out of 5 stars If only the hadn't rushed it.   September 19, 2008
I bought my xbox 360 on launch day. It ran fine with no problems for about 14 months and then I fell victim to the dreaded red ring of death (RROD). But, I called Microsoft's support and had a replacement unit in about two weeks. The Xbox 360 is definitely the most fun for me of all the next gen consoles and it has a massive library of quality titles.

The newer 360's have improved greatly as far as the RROD issues go. Is the RROD eliminated completely? I doubt it, but it's close. Additionally Microsoft has a 3 year warranty in place to cover you should you have any problems of that nature.

The 360 has great games like Gears of war, Halo 3, Call of duty 4, Bioshock and many others. And the Xbox live (XBL) community is by far the best online service of the 3 next gen consoles and is well worth the 50 dollars per year or 13 cents per day depending on how you want to look at it. XBL is rich with content from movie, music video, television show, and game downloads to online chat with and without video (If you have the vision cam accessory) It also has a built in MSN interface for chatting with friends on PC, and Pocket PCs, and connects directly to any Microsoft Mediacenter PC you may have in you house for playing movies, looking at photos, or listening to music.

The 360 display/graphics are very high quality and supports 480p - 1080p on most if not all titles. The controllers have a very nice ergonomic design and fits well in my hands and are never awkward.

I would definitely recommend the xbox 360 for anyone looking to buy one.

It's difficult for me to make a recommendation for either the 360 or the PS3 over one another as they are both great consoles. I would give the PS3 the advantage based on past reliability and blu-ray video capability.
But, I give the 360 the advantage in games library, shear fun and online service.

If I would make a recommendation, I would say get one of them (Either one) and then follow up very soon by buying the other. Because there are great games out there for both consoles and other games coming out that are only available on one or the other. Get them both.

5 out of 5 stars Still Rocking.   September 16, 2008

I bought my console back in December of 2007. I've never had one problem with it since I've owned the thing.

Its worked like a dream, disk tray is fine, and no sign of the red ring. My friend did get the disk tray error on his Elite console. But they worked very quickly making sure he get his fixed. Free shipping both ways, they sent him a box, he mailed the console. Then few weeks later back in action.

Only problem I've had, if you can call it a problem. Is that I needed more space on the hard drive since I got if for rock band. I upgraded to the 120 GB hard drive which was simple to do. But the good thing is now you can just get the new version which comes with a 60 GB hard drive.
But still a great buy, and a great working console.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely fun   September 14, 2008
My cousins play with it every day. It is extremely fun for them. I am an adult and prefer a WII anyway.
