1 out of 5 stars Piece of Garbage   July 30, 2008
I got this PSP Protective Filter scratched!!!
When I am playing I can clearly see 8 huge scratch on the filter.
On top of that, the PSP Protective Filter does not cover the entire screen!
So, if you feel brave and lucky try it, otherwise you should look for something better.

In conclusion, I will never buy anything else made from this HORI company.

5 out of 5 stars The secret of applying this filter   July 13, 2008

Many people have problem applying the filter. If you just peel off and apply the sticker directly, you will face the following 3 major problem:

1. Dust particles
2. air bubbles (or known as air pockets, caused by air or dust)
3. Sticker orientation accuracy

To solve the above problems, here is the secret and the correct steps, not limited to this PSP filter, in fact, this secret applied to all stickers application.

Do the following steps, and you will be amazed with the result.
Ingredients:
a. The screen protector filter
b. Bowl
c. hand soap, body shampoo (lotion, etc.. anything alcaline based will do)
d. water
e. plastic paper credit card sized or smaller which act as your lifter. Optional, use the front/back plastic cover for the sticker will do as well.
f. tissue paper

Step

1. Wipe the PSP screen clean
2. Fill the bowl with one or two teaspoon amount of hand soap and dilute it with half bowl of water.
3. scoop out the bubbles in the bowl as many as possible.
4. Remove both front and back side of the filter. (remember the up-side)
5. Soak the filter into the bowl and take it out with your plastic paper. (try not to use finger)
6. Apply the filter gently (while it is still little wet)

7. Adjust the filter to the correct position desired.
8. Push the liquid out with a credit card from middle to outside.
9. Wipe any water that squeezed out from the corner of the sticker as soon as soon you see it.
10. If you see dust particle (a small air pocket with a little dust dot in the middle) inside the sticker, lift it up with a plaster paper, remove the dust, and close it back.

11. repeat step 7 to 10 until it is completely dry and up to your desire.

If application is not as your desired, remove the sticker, soak it back to the same bowl, clean the sticker to make sure no dust particles with the same way you lean your contact lens, and reapply. (No, you don't have to throw your filter!)

Finally you got yourself a perfect application of filter and air bubble-less.

This is the same technique as applying tinted film/stickers on glass windows, car windows and wind screen by the car assessories professionals. The only difference is they spray soap water on the filter instead of using a bowl (coz PSP filter is so small compared with filter for tinted glass application)

Try it, you will be amazed by the result instead of apply directly without soap water.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good   July 5, 2008
This product works well if applied right. Follow the instructions; all instructions, for best results. I had no air bubbles, protects really good, easy to clean. Only thing I have a PSP thin and the filter dosent cover the entire screen, there is a little left over on the edges, not very noticeable though. Only thing I dislike, it only comes with one filter.

1 out of 5 stars Absolute trash   May 2, 2008

I don't know how this item got so many good reviews. I own a pink import model PSP, the original 'fat' version. And yet people who own the thin one are also saying that this product didn't work at all for them. I'm wondering who it DID work for. The filter was too small for the screen, and completely covered it in air bubbles.

One of the reviewers here mentioned that air bubbles are from you putting the wrong sheet on it -- it's not. I used the correct filter, the one between the two sheets, and it was covered in dust particles and little hairs instantly, pretty much everything that is floating in the air. Then when I laid it down, it was full of air bubbles no matter how many times I cleaned it or reapplied it.

Don't buy this. Get a case instead, and buy yourself some Displex scratch remover to keep the screen looking brand new. This kind of thing does nothing.

4 out of 5 stars Works fine   April 22, 2008

The size is fine for the PSP slim. There's maybe 1/64" border that it doesn't protect, which allows air bubbles to be worked out. It's just like applying any applique to glass, it takes patience and a couple of tries to get it perfect. The only complaints are that it does little to nothing to reduce glare, and it's not rigid like I expected, so sharp pokes can still damage the screen.
