I've never before played a video game that made me laugh out loud. But this one does that and more. Sure, there are more realistic games out there. But one doesn't always want realism when one is playing a game. Sometimes one wants to breakdance on the ball to the tune of Herbie Hancock's "Rock-It," then leap off Shaq's back, land standing on the rim, and throw down a MASSIVE dunk that sounds literally like a bomb while the name of one's hometown flashes on the screen. I know it's not original (old fans of NBA Jam will know what I mean), but the brilliant idea of combining real-world playgrounds and NBA stars with the physics of fantasy games makes this a game anyone can love.
I haven't felt inspired to write an Amazon review for years. And I'm 40 years old. This game is straight-up SICK.
Over-the-top but not over-kill April 13, 2007 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
This game is huge fun. Its exactly the way you wish you could play. The tricks are rediculously crazy but so much fun to pull off. Double Alley-oops 20ft high with crazy-hass slams and dunks in your face.
Just 3 on 3 street ball with some friendly, non abusive smack talk on infamous street corts around the country. No annoying announcers, no buzzers, no timers, no shot clocks to worry and no unruly crowds.
The game was done right. Its fairly easy to pick-up on any one can play but can also go as deep as you like. The interface is easy to navigate around and understand. Game play runs smooth, the graphics are a 10 out of 10. In practice session you can practice all your moves with and without teammates or opponents for as long as you like.
Not bad EA.... March 29, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Madden Monopoly pisses me off and NBA Live collects dust nowadays. I did expect a live-like street game on the next gen (probably because im a realist) but instead I get 6-1 point guards and WNBA players with 80 inch verts. A little unattractive for us realists out there. But its decent in every other catagory. And putting WNBA players in the game makes the game more attractive for women (especially the ones who hate sports!!!) as well as the fellas. Now EA just needs to come up with an NFL version of this great game. Just take out the insanity in the NFL versions of Street 2&3 and I may just buy that one too.
THA GAME WILL BE A CLASSIC NO DOUBT March 15, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
THE GAME IS STRAIGHT UP SICKENING! THEY HAVE ADDED SO MUCH MORE THAT IT MAKES IT HARD TO PUT DOWN THE CONTROLLER! THE BEST IS THE ALL NEW GAMEBREAKER WITH THE DOUBLE DUNKS! I SAY IT IS WELL WORTH 60 OF MY DOLLARS! BREAKDANCING ON THE COURT ONCE YOU GET YOUR GAMEBREAKER IT JUST FREAKIN SICK! YOU GOTTA BUY IT IF YOU LIKE ANY OTHER STREET GAMES YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE MORE THAN THE LAST ONES ALL PUT TOGETHER TRUST ME!
It's like pancakes- exciting at first, but after awhile you're sick of it March 13, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
My opinion may be biased because I don't have a current connection to XBoxLive or my own "crew" to play against, but this game got old rather quickly for me. I don't buy a lot of games, and I am a big fan of the NBA, so I expected I would be busy with this one for a while. But if you can believe it, even doing triple dunks off of your buddy's back from the top of the key can get old at some point (or at least when you're only doing it against the computer).
The game's button scheme doesn't allow for a whole lot of complexity, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on the situation. Your friends can catch on without too much trouble on the one hand, but once everyone knows the buttons, you'll wish you had more options.
The graphics look great in HD, and you won't see better player models in any other basketball games on the system. The sound is good also, especially the funky rhythm that plays when you activate the gamebreaker. But after the first week, I haven't had the urge to go back and touch this game. If I had XBOXLive, things may be different, but even then I would probably rather be playing Fight Night or Gears of War. Save your money, and make this one a rental.
