5 out of 5 stars imma critic with this one...   June 25, 2006

this game lacked the ability to live up to name "Tomb Raider" its more of a "City Raider" half the levels deal with city-time scenery. and 80% of the enemies are humans. more like a 007 than a Tomb Raider - but the game play is fun in the cities (Venice) so i cant complain too much - just wasnt feelin the whole China scene. I liked to level skip those. and the twist at the end was a lil boost - so all in all ill give it 5stars - but it lacked challenge for me - i beat it in a week. just run around and jump for the most part.

I saw a persons reveiw on Tomb Raider 2 he said its easy he also said hes only up to the opra house he shouldnt get too confident because the dragons lair 40 fathoms and ofshore rig are waiting for him. in ofshore rig you start of with no weapons inside a big cage full of blocks blocking a switch to get out in 40 fathoms you must kill about five sharks in your UNDERWATER!!!!! search for land and in the Dragons lair you must kill a huge dragon he cant fly but he breaths fire so dont belive this will be a walk in the park.

The original TOMB RAIDER was a great game. Yes, the graphics weren't excellent, but it was a very fun, ground-breaking game. And yet the absoloutely fabulous sequel, TOMB RAIDER II, is even better.
This time, the famous Lara Croft goes in search of the Dagger of Zion, although again there is someone else trying to beat her to it. The dagger is said to give those that owns it 'the power of the dragon.' (SPOILER:) At the end of the game, the sinister man beats Lara to the knife, and when he turns into a huge dragon, you are forced to battle him in a breath-taking finale.
Lara has some new moves in this game - she can even climb ladders - and she has new costumes and even vehicles too. You can drive in a speedboat in Venice and a snowmobile among icy mountains.
The film is alot of fun, very addictive. You could play the game every day. Infact, I believe that TOMB RAIDER II is the best installment in the TOMB RAIDER series that has been available on PLaystation for several years.
Once again, the graphics are disappointing, with little detail. However, Lara this time has a ponytail that moves in the wind!
So, enjoy the game, because I can't see how you can't. Many complain that it has too much action and loses the 'feel' and 'soul' of the original game, but isn't it action that makes these kind of games so great!

Gameplay: 5/5
Graphics: 3/5
Overrall: 5/5

5 out of 5 stars Lara Croft Is Back And Still Great At Her Job!   December 3, 2005

A major Tomb Raider fan, I decided to play all the games over again and finished both part one and now part two and they're both still as great as I remember. I think both are strong and worthwhile games with great plots but Tomb Raider Two is more tough, but that's the point of a sequel. It's longer (or at least it felt that way, especially when it came to the Ocean part of the game) yet I enjoyed playing it.
Both Tomb Raider One and Two have interesting plots and both are different. In Tomb Raider Two it has to deal with a Dagger that throughout the story grows more important to find and soon. You go through many different levels than you did on Tomb Raider one- including the Floating Islands- which is one weird level but very fascinating. My favorite levels were in Venice, the places in Tibet and yes the Floating Islands. Home Sweet Home level was a little scary- being attacked in her own home!- but I thought it was a good twist. The ending itself was tougher than the first one that's for sure, and I did say a few curse words while trying to finish the game, but eventually when I did finish I knew that it was worthwhile. I had to get a strategy guide nonetheless to beat this game, because indeed in many levels it was a little too tough for me to figure out, but then there's no shame in getting a little help.

Overall the game is more hard and challenging and just as creative in plot as part one was (the storylines are way good). I enjoyed it and I recommend it to everyone who loved part one.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Adventure   June 20, 2004

Of all the Tomb Raiders, this has to be my favorite, for gameplay and technical reasons. This backdrop of adventure is interesting and the closer you get to the "big Boss" the more eerie the game feels in music, puzzles, and adversaries. It was extremely well constructed. Of the series, I compare this to the other games. It seems like the designer was very careful in making this feel complete from the beginning and it flowed well to a dramatic finish. It had a great story and movie feel to the adventure.

Technically as a PS player, I liked the ability to save multiple times to get some of the tricky moves down (being new to TR) and it gave me the chance to replay levels that were fun after all was said and done. Enjoy!
