Solid game June 13, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This hockey game actually gives the player a challenge. You will not be able to score all the time like other hockey games and sweeping teams through the Stanley Cup Play-offs will not be easy at all. Hockey fundamentals come into play with this game and you must know how to run a power play. Great game!
This game rocks January 19, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is the greatest, it offere everything from bonecrushing hits to deaking a goalie out of his or her pyjamas. This game and NHL 2000 are really good games and i would give them both five stars, but for Foxs first NHL title, this game is above average.
NHL Championship 2000 December 11, 1999 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Overall the presentation of this game is outstanding, from the commentary to FOX music, fox traxer of slapshots of the "Comet Tail"sports sound effects it really make you feel like you are really watching a TV hockey game. You can play all the teams or simulate games during a season mode, something NHL 2000 by EA sports eliminated in this years version, what a drag. In EA sports you can only pick one team to compete for the cup.-boring! My only complaint is that the guys don't skate very fast, rather sluggish. But once you play this game for a while you will realize that maybe the funnest hockey game Playstation has to offer out of it's new releases.
Buy NHL Championship 2000 if NHL FaceOff 2000 is sold out. December 8, 1999 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
A feature I like is the passing arrow. When a specific player has the puck...there are arrows pointing the that player's nearest teammate from which to pass to. This is a very good feature. The puck is highlighted to make following the puck easier and also the slap shots and wrist shots leave a red and blue trail, respectively. This is a nice feature.I must say...I'm disappointed with the graphics. The graphics are grainy and the details of the players, uniforms and arenas are severely lacking. The hockey arenas are just plain lacking in color. Everything thing has a grayish tint. Also, the camera angles are not very pleasing. There are about 5 angles from which to play NHL Championship 2000 ...but all the various angles still leave you wanting something just a little bit more satisfying. Last, but certainly not least, the load time to access any of the features is EXTREMELY slow. This can be quite irritating if you're trying to get in a quick game. I've since had an opportunity to sample 989's NHL FaceOff 2000 and wish I had chosen that vendor. The graphics and playability are much crisper and cleaner...with more attention paid to the finer details, e.g. the reflection of the arena lights shining off the ice.
Worth your money and more November 29, 1999 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is definately the best hockey game I have ever played. Whether you're looking for an entertaining game or a competative one, this one is without a doubt the game for you. I definately urge you to choose this game over other wannabe hockey games like FaceOff or NHL2000
