4 out of 5 stars Great , but Some lost signals or broken buttons   May 26, 2004

When I first got this, I loved it. I've had it for about a year. So, I was playing a racing game, and I was holding the X to go and then suddenly, I slowed down. After that it still didn't work so good. It even happened in other games. I even tried changing the batteries. This is still a great controller because it only does it sometimes.

3 out of 5 stars Not strong enough....   April 19, 2004

Mine has broken twice, left analog stick broken (always forces the movement down). Can't recommend without an insurance policy, the product is just too weak.

Update: Another one of these broke on me. The left analog stick gets "stuck" in the down position and there is a fine white dust eveident arount the base of the analog stick. I'd say stay away from this one, which is too bad because it is quite responsive and has good battery life. One other thing, the controller will quit responding if too close to a ringing 2.4 GHZ cordless phone.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!!   April 7, 2004

I HAVE REPLACED THIS PRODUCT THREE TIMES NOW WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE LEFT ANALOG CONTROLLER STICKS AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU CAN DO. IT IS NOT JUST ME, GO TO THE LOGITECH PAGE AND LOOK THROUGH THE DISCUSSION BOARDS AND YOU WILL SEE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE CONTROLLER TO HAVE SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THIS IS ISOLATED SINCE I HAD THREE IN A ROW DO THE SAME THING VERY SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE.

PURCHASERS SHOULD WAIT FOR THE CHEAPER VERSION OF THIS CONTROLLER THAT LOGITECH IS COMING OUT WITH (SEE THEIR PRODUCT CATALOG ON THEIR SITE). SAVE YOUR MONEY ON THIS LEMON!

4 out of 5 stars Cordless...   March 26, 2004

This controller is great design. The fact that it is cordless is best thing about it. The design is great for playing hours on end, and your hands don't cramp...but the only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the fact that I am on my 3rd one. The first one - the left analog stick quit working after about 10 hours of play. The second controller I got just quit working all together after 2 weeks of play.. The company I got it from (Tech Depot) is awesome, they sent me a prepaid UPS return label each time no hassle and so far the third one I have is doing good. Out of all the cordless controllers out there this one received the best reviews, so I guess like anything there are good and bad products - and maybe that is why I am on my third one now. Is anyone else having (or did anyone have) any problems too? For now I am sticking with this contoller, and crossing my fingers that the one I have now will not break...

3 out of 5 stars It has it's flaws, but it's still good...   December 31, 2003

When I first got this controller, the first thing I noticed was it's size. I thought it was going to be as much of a pain like the original X-Box controller would be. But, I put my hands around it like I would with the regular PS2 controller, and it felt fine... except the four AA batteries in the back weighed it down a bit. It did feel big, but not that big. It's a pain in the neck, though, to reach the 'start' and 'select' buttons. After a while of playing, I got used to it, and thought to myself 'Wow, this is pretty great! I don't have to worry about all my wires getting tangled up and pulling my PS2 off the shelf.' The bottons respond well, too, and there is no delay. I even did a test on how far the signal would go, so I ran down downstairs and into the basement, pressed 'start' to pause the game, ran back up to my room, and it worked.

Of course, for me, after a while of playing, my hands start to get sweaty. I was playing SOCOM: US Navy SEALs, and when I tried using the analog sticks, my thumbs were slipping like crazy. This is because the sticks are made of plastic with no rubber grip on them, like the regular PS2 controller. The L3 and R3 buttons (under the left and right analog sticks) are somewhat a little too sensitive. Sometimes, if I where to move one of the sticks left or right, I would accidentally push down on the L3 or R3 buttons. Also, another problem I had was the D-Pad. Since it's a big circle, rather than arrows or whatnot on the regular PS2 controller, I had a tendency to push, say, left rather than up, which got somewhat frustrating.

Another thing I'd like to bring up is the fact that it's wireless, and it requires batteries. One of the first things that comes to people's minds is 'Well, what if I'm in the middle of playing a game, and all of a sudden my batteries die?' Well, if you leave the vibration on on the controller, the batteries will last a good 50 hours. When they start to die out, the controller will still work, but it automatically turns off the vibration. I believe the lights will continuously flash telling you the batteries are almost dead.

Overall, this product does have it's flaws, but it is a solid product that is made to last. If you're the kind of gamer that likes to sit or lay down far from the television set or doesn't like having to untangle wires, this is a good buy. One more thing. When I bought this product, it had the official seal of the PlayStation logo on it. This pretty much means that it should work like any other regular PS2 controller, except for the fact that it's wireless.
