It's about time! April 30, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Robotech Battlecry does justice to the show. The cartoon was great and so is this game. Playing as a pilot in the Wolf squad instead of being one of the main show characters was a nice touch. The game follows the story well and eventually goes off into its' own senario. You also meet some familiar faces here and there. The gameplay is what makes this game stand out. You have three modes to operate and each serves a different function. Used strategically switching between each function will turn a player into a piloting genious. The atmosphere is all Robotech. Missles and gun fire light up the screen beautifully. The mix of earth and space missions keep the game from becoming to dry. The game is a mixed bag on the challenge though. Some stages are easy enough but others are so tough that when thought you were an ace will humble you very quickly. One particular boss will not let up for a second. My only gripe about this game are the ground level earth stages and the physics used in the space stages. For the earth stages there is a boundry once you fly up to a certain point. In the heat of battle taking to the sky would be a good way to get away and regroup for you and/or the enemy and whoever is left on the ground will have to give chase. Now the other problem. Sense when is there an upright in space? Maybe I'm being picky, but your plane always returns in a upright position. There is no gravity, there is no atmosphere your plane should follow suite with space physics. Hopefully if there is a sequal and if it doesn't move to the next chapter of the series those two minor problems can be addressed. Until then GOOD HUNTING.
Not Bad. March 25, 2003 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
Not a bad mech game. Pretty entertaining. Check it out, you might like it.
WOW!! WHAT A RUSH! March 23, 2003 If you're a Robotech nut, a shoot 'em up fan or just a variety gamer, this is something you don't want to miss. An action, challenge filled, firefight. Revolving around the Robotech Macross Saga, you play a Veritech pilot during the first two Robotech Wars. Through the game, you encounter characters and events of the memorable series, which the plot and gameplay largely remains loyal to. The variety is extensive in some areas and somewhat lacking in others but keeps you on your toes, none the less. Controls in combat are mostly good though a bit too sensitive in menu screens. The graphics are gorgeous and sounds are relatively moderate. Some levels and bosses are notably complex though the final battle suffers from a lack of expected difficulty. Some of my friends disliked the ending, but most Robotech addicts are able to discern the shape of the SDF-3 coming out of fold in the bright flash. Overall this game is fun, challenging and loyal to the Robotech Saga. Trust me, it's worth a try.
I always wanted to be a veritech pilot March 7, 2003 This game was everything I hoped it would be. Remember when we were kids and we rushed home to watch this show? I know I was enthralled by the story and fascinated by the mecha. Now I can play this game and I feel like I am part of the story. I like that you aren't playing one of the main characters. It makes it seem like this your part in the saga. If you always wanted to fly a veritech and fight for the RDF this is it!
Veritechs galore February 26, 2003 this game was ... i can think of a word to describe it. It had great graphics, cool game play, and on top of that it has a TV show counterpart to get it more fans. This game has lodes of things to do, collect badges, gain ranks, and 2 player mode. If you love Mechwarrior youll love this game. 5 stars all the way
